The OT is very good at saying what is to continue from generation to generation etc.

Oddly enough, no matter how many times I read the part on Adam and Eve's punishment, not once does it say that either of their individual punishments were to continue to their descendants or to the next generation.

I have seen that translation also.

Torah Genesis 3:18-19 Thorns and thistles shall it sprout for you. But your food shall be the grasses of the field; by the sweat of your brow shall you get bread to eat, until you return to the ground For from it you were taken.

Imagine if we took Adam's punishment literally.
No meat for men! Atkins would not be happy.
