Prove that he doesn't have many beards. Why on Earth would I do that? You didn't answer my question. You must know; after all we know you saw God because how else would you have known that this was true:
quote: Those were your words, remember? So since you checked with God, you must have seen how many beards he has. Well? How many? Wait... you wouldn't be so low as to claim knowledge about God that you didn't actually have, would you? Surely not. You must know how many beards God has, so why won't you tell me?

quote: Perky people are sexy? Eww, I hate perky people. Anyway, what is sexy is culturally influenced, too. It isn't all biology. In French culture, for example, women in their 30's and 40's, and even older, are considered very hot because by then they will have learned what they need to know to be great in bed.
quote: But fake tits are perkier and younger looking, so wouldn't that mean they are sexier?

Checking with God does not mean that I've seen him or not.
If I knew how many beards God had, I wouldn't tell you, its up to you to find out for yourself. Why don't you go ask rhain why he thinks there is more than one God?If he knows that there is more than one God, and the "Christian God" is not the real one, then ask him, he seems to be an expert on Gods and everything else in general. He must of seen them all to know that, right? Or do you only feel the need to pick on me? My reply was a reply to what he said, for a reason. And there is a distinct possibility that there could only be one true God.

Checking with God does not mean that I've seen him or not. Then how could you have possibly acertained whether or not he's the same God the Hindus, Muslims, and everybody else worships? Oh, I get it now. You're saying that you checked, but you didn't really. You're just passing off your own thoughts about God as though they're some universal truth.

Maybe 75% of those "heterosexuals are closet homo's.
How could we ever know this? I try not to limit myself to judge what people will or will not do.Especially based on there belief's or choices in life. To me everyone is capable of everything.Only God really knows what you are capable of. It seems that just about everything in life follows this way of thinking, except God's word. It remains the only true thing out there.

It was a counter thought to a stupid statement.
I should have clarified it better. Yes I asked God that very question. He did not give me the answer, but gave me the feeling that it could be possible. After all, since I believe in God and everthing on this earth was created for his glory, then it could be possible even as a Christian.

riVeRrat writes: What about all the silly sex laws? Tell me that straights will have less rights than gays because of the way laws are written.
I can't speak to that one way or the other since I don't know all the laws. What I do know is that in my opinion (and apparently the SCOTUS) any law which deals with two consenting adults and private sex acts is unconstitutional. These laws are only in place because people succeeded in putting their religion in our government.

Yeah, when I was in Paris I remember seeing all those commercials on TV with those very hot 40-year-old babes... wait a MO-MENT, I don't recall seeing them at all! In fact, even the porn channel in the hotel only showed nubile young men and women! Course that was ten years ago, I'm sure things are different now...
Perky people are sexy? Eww, I hate perky people. I couldn't agree with you more. I want to slap the 'perk' right out of them.

How else do you judge popular culture? Music, TV, and porno. Are there any better criteria than those?

How about talking to people, reading their literature, looking at their art cinema and paintings?
In Europe, people aren't nearly as addicted to TV as Americans are. This message has been edited by schrafinator, 06-17-2004 05:18 PM

I said 'popular' culture. More specifically, the culture of the majority of people, not a sub-group comprised of intellectuals.
schraf writes: In Europe, people aren't nearly as addicted to TV as Americans are. Yeah, that's why Baywatch and 90210 were such hits in Europe, because people were busy going to the Prado, and reading all that Voltaire, Gunter Grass, and Solzhenitsin. Sorry, I absolutely challenge the claim that Euros are any more erudite, or, more importantly, any less shallow, than Americans. I have seen great European films (recently saw I'm not afraid, and Man on the Train) and I've seen Euro films that made Dude, Where's My Car seem like Citizen Kane. Their tabloids, crappy television, commercials (my god, have you ever seen Italian commercials? They're better than the Spice Channel!), pop magazines, and godawful music (except the Brits) are every bit as shallow and horrible and representative of their culture as ours are. Although you pique my curiosity -I would be curious to juxtapose, say, France or Germany's best selling books and films to the US; I still stand by my contention that the trifecta of music, television, and porn are just as valid metrics for determining popular culture as any other. We don't judge America's pop culture by the Met, articles in Scientific American, or what's being played on NPR; we judge it by People Magazine, USA Today, Z100, and Friends. I wasn't actually talking about popular culture, but as long as you brought it up...
bold added by me. http://www.21stcentury.com.cn/print.php?sid=6562
The French are not only less sentimental about sex, but they also actually enjoy seeing mature women as sexually alluring creatures. French actresses Sophie Marcear (Top), Catherine Deneuve (Bottom left) and Julitte Binoche are among the top 15 film stars in France. Fifty-eight-year-old Deneuve, 53-year-old Ardant, and others over a certain age (74-year-old Jeanne Moreau, for one) continue to be sexy and bankable celebrities. In France, seven of the top 15 bankable stars are women, according to James Ulmer's (Hollywood Hot List) calculations. All except 24-year-old Audrey Tautou are older than 35. Contrast that with the American list of top 15 stars, which includes only two women Julia Roberts and Nicole Kidman. Kidman is 35, and Roberts turns 35 next month. "In America, you get older faster. You are old at 40," said James Ulmer, who published the "Hollywood Hot List" in 1997. "The French give women the opportunity to age gracefully and to be feminine. French film allows them to be sexual and sensual in a way we don't. We don't allow women to be sexual after 40, and you see that in the way movies are cast. Movies are a reflection of the culture." http://www.rendezvousfrance.com/kunz.html
Q. How different is the environment in which French women grew up in from the environment of an American woman?
A. They have been exposed to history. In their history there are king' mistresses, women who are older than men and still fascinate men. You grow up with a lot of wonderful art around. In the U.S. you would be concerned to have a nude statue in a park! Here, you see statues everywhere, you don't need to go to a museum. There is such sensuousness. French people don't have a problem with age. My Gosh! In California aren't they doing everything not to look a day over 30. Here, I am more comfortable with my age. It is relaxing.
