Let me ask a question.
A muslim friend of mine once sent me the following.
This is a message written by Muhammad ibn Abdullah, as a covenant to
those who adopt Christianity, far and near, we are behind them. Verily, I defend them by myself, the servants, the helpers, and my followers,
because Christians are my citizens; and by Allah! I hold out against
anything that displeases them. No compulsion is to be on them. Neither are their judges to be changed from their jobs, nor their monks from their monasteries. No one is to destroy a house of their religion, to damage it, or to carry anything from it to the Muslims' houses. Should anyone take any of these, he would spoil God's covenant and disobey His
Prophet. Verily, they (Christians) are my allies and have my secure charter against all that they hate. No one is to force them to travel or to oblige them to fight. The Muslims are to fight for them. If a female Christian is married to a Muslim, this is not to take place without her own wish. She is not to be prevented from going to her church to pray. Their churches are to be respected. They are neither to be prevented from repairing them nor the sacredness of their covenants. No one of the nation is to disobey this covenant till the Day of Judgment and the end of the world."
What is that from? Is it from the Islamic equivalent of the Talmud?

Re: Let me ask a question.
Thanks. I was not putting something up for dispute so no rebuttal was needed.
Looking at the history of Islam, for most of the period and in most circumstances, it has been a religion (and politic) of great tolerance.
Would you say though that the statement was a resonable reflection of general attitudes of Islam towards other religions through most of its history?

Re: God's name.
Like GOD gives a Damn what you call him. Is there a more ridiculous argument that anyone come up with? I know I stay awake at night worrying about whether some slime mold calls me Jay, Jim or James.
ROTFLMAO.

Re: God's name.
{EDIT: Or let me put it this way, you can call on God by a false name all you like, but He isn't going to hear it because it isn't His name.
Yeah, right. LOL
GOD is some bling-bling pimp daddy that's gonna get all upset because someone dissed him.
Sorry, but that's not GOD, that's some caricature, a joke.
GOD, a GOD that could create this universe, that understood intuitively the relationship between gravity and the weak nuclear force, that created a system as near perfect as Evolution, doesn't give a damn if some hairy ape that's handy with tools calls him GOD, Alah or Mike. To think he does is simply silly, asinine.
