Winding Down
I have to admit feeling sorry for Faith in these discussions. I understand that it is supposed to be an evidence based debate. The problem is that there isn't any evidence, reason, or even tradition for her position.
Her position is that her belief is beyond evidence or reason but that she knows that it is true based on her relationship with God. In the end, as what she is arguing is metaphysical we can't prove that she is wrong, and she won't accept any physical, (or even any metaphysical evidence it seems), that would indicate that she might be wrong. This is kinda of understandable because her mindset seems to be that if the whole Bible isn't literally true then none of it is true.
The problem for me, is that as I have explained previously, I think that Faith's brand of Christianity is very often taken as the norm in non Christian circles, and as a result it is detrimental to the advancement of Christianity. I also think it causes other difficulties for the faith as myself and others have detailed in previous posts.
Just so that anybody who reads Faith's posting realize that she is not in step with the majority of Christians I'd like to post a link that TimChase posted on another thread in case you missed it there. It is a petition if you like signed by thousands of Christian leaders that support evolution as a scientific theory and agree that religion is a separate and distinct topic.

Re: Faith and Literalism
Percy,
I've no idea of the kinds of problems involved for Admins in dealing with Faith but I would like to put forth my views as a participant at this site. I feel that Faith and Buzsaw and even WillowTree though I can get irritated with them offer something very valuable to me which is the opportunity to understand others whose views of the world are so different from mine that I have to really work to see how they can believe the things they do. If they are banished I lose opportunities to see other human viewpoints.
I don't have any idea what Faith must do to not be a nuisance to admins, but I do hope there is some way that she can continue to participate in at least the faith based bible forums here. I'd like to see Buzsaw back to, though restricted from the science forums obviously although I do consider it useful to see how the totally naive fundamentalist believers completely misunderstand science. For every Buz on this board there must be thousands of people in the US alone that would think he makes sense. I thinks it's important to at least be aware that these very different types of beliefs and thinking approaches exist.

restoration
Thank you, Faith, and I have restored your privedges. (though how you managed to edit when they were suspended I don't know --- not I DID submit the changes -- I'll check times)
I think you took the POTM a bit strongly, btw, though perhaps looking at it I can understand.
First it is a POTM because if is clear and well worded.
Second, it is a POTM because it demonstrates a particular point very strongly.
I did have some feeling of amusement at the nature of it in context. I am sure you will never understand that which is too bad.

Re: restoration
Point of information.
Faith reposted the message text to the thread on Moderation procedures before the full suspension was applied.
Percy/Admin restored the message in this thread.

Re: restoration
That was one of my sloppiest posts and you try to say it's well worded and that's why it's a POTM??? It was mostly an objection to Brian's unbelievable abusiveness -- for which HE should have been suspended at least twice by now, and Ifen too -- and I had given up on proving anything by that point but since this is not a forum where proof is required why should it matter??? The next thing I know you've done this unbelievably intrusive nasty thing without warning.
P.S. Why should it be a problem that I was able to edit since you supposedly only restricted me to nonScience forums.

Re: Faith and Literalism
Why do you want me around, you who hate my guts? You should have been suspended for your personal attack on me.
I didn't do a thing to be a nuisance to Admin. I haven't lost my temper and have just been posting along and here it comes again. This place is a nightmare.

A word from God
I simply opened my Bible just now and my eye went right to this:
Isa 52:5 Now therefore, what have I here, saith the LORD, that my people is taken away for nought? they that rule over them make them to howl, saith the LORD; and my name continually every day [is] blasphemed.
And I checked a couple other versions:
NKJV-Isa 52:5- Now therefore, what have I here," says the Lord, "That My people are taken away for nothing? Those who rule over them Make them wail," says the Lord, "And My name is blasphemed continually every day.
NASB-Isa 52:5- "Now therefore, what do I have here," declares the LORD, "seeing that My people have been taken away without cause?" {Again} the LORD declares, "Those who rule over them howl, and My name is continually blasphemed all day long.

Re: A word from God
Exactly. You and all those like you continue the Blaspheme GOD and his word. What you practice is not religion but willfull ignorance. God does not demand or desire the continued peversion of his word. It's time for Christians to stand up and declare that folk like you cannot continue to play the religious trump card. It's time for all Christians to stand up and denounce YECs and Classic Creationists and to point out that their behavior has nothing to do with Christianity and is only a means to enslave youth to a life of ignorance.

Re: A word from God
No, but folk like Faith rely on everyone backing off when they pull out the Religion Card. They bring up things like tolerance.
It's reasonable to expect tolerance for handicaps, for sexual orientation, for political beliefs, for skin color, for differing viewpoints on the existance, non-existence or identity of GOD.
But should willful ignorance be tolerated?

Re:
I think when I asked you:
What could I, or anyone else, show to you that would disprove something in the Bible?
When you replied ...):
Nothing whatever.
This is just one example from your deleted [now reinstated] post that informs admins that there is no point in you entering into a discussion that requires that evidence be produced to support you arguments. A thread, for example, like the census one that Ramoss and Paulk are involved in, requires historical evidence to back up positions, you have more or less stated here that it wouldn't matter what Ramoss or Paul posted you simply wouldnt even consider their arguments.
Do you think it is fair that someone could spend a lot of time on a post to you, gathering sources, constructing arguments, using up their valuable time, only to discover that there is nothing that you will accept as evidence against the Bible anyway?
Concerning my restriction from science fora

THIS IS A "BIBLE STUDY" FORUM ON WHICH ONE IS INVITED TO EXPLAIN WHY ONE READS THE BIBLE LITERALLY. If you want to argue the scientific basis for discrediting the Bible, which is all you ever do, argue it somewhere else, not here. Perhaps you should be suspended for using the wrong methods of discussion in this forum.

I haven't claimed to represent the majority of Christians. I claim to be in tune with the historic, traditional Church, and all those who base their faith on Biblical inerrancy, and I've posted links -- such as in my Message 109 (which further links to message #99 of the Ham v Ross thread) -- to the views of many over the centuries with whom I identify. Many contemporary Christians deviate a great deal from that path.
{EDIT: I wanted to edit message #99 of the Ham v Ross forum where I link to the major references but thanks to this morning's craziness I no longer have access to that forum for the purpose. The link to the Fundamentals on that message doesn't work, so here is a better one:
The Fundamentals.
And here is the article on Genesis from that work:
The Fundamentals on Genesis }

Yes.
So you had to believe the Bible is literally true in all details before you read it. So that you can understand the part that says that Christ died for your sins?
How is this accomplished?
