Because it is your thread.
Oh. Well, I would think that if there were such a being as Jesus, He's probably very compassionate.

Hey Robin,
Next time you see a mother cling in desparation to the coffin of her dead child as they prepare to bury it in the ground don't bother having "your heart go out to her" - go over and talk to her. Listen to her anguish, row in there alongside her and try and work up the same grief that she has so you can avoid being patronising. Tell her that "time heals all wounds" and the like. Offer to contribute to the costs of the funeral. Like: do something man! Or maybe you see such things in the context you saw those vets as somehow patronising? What your heart was going out to was ever so larger than "Hey old timer - fancy a smoke... and tell me, is war really Hell?" All this ridicule you face. Great practice for being a Christian... The Lord does work in mysterious ways (and I mean that not at all patronising. Prophetically I hope)

So? I'm being criticized for that? That's ridiculous. Please show where in that post I criticized you? I said you missed an opportunity. It was your loss, not theirs.
If you look back at the reactions in the "Boasts of Atheists" thread, you will see a very good example of PC at work. Oh yeah, that thread was pretty funny too. I remember that one. And still no support for anything in this or any other thread being Politically Correct, just the normal assertion.

Please show where in that post I criticized you? You said I didn't "do squat." That sounds like criticism to me. The tone is critical.
And still no support for anything in this or any other thread being Politically Correct, just the normal assertion If you like I can quote those negative reactions from the other thread that jumped all over me for my "dehumanizing" comment about the Veterans. That's PC-style morality.

But unless you know the circumstances, well, you just don't know why they were the way they were. Since we were at a VA hospital, I figured these men were veterans. And I figured that the missing limbs were lost in war. This seems very reasonable to me. I also figured that they did not enjoy losing their limbs. I figured they would rather have had their limbs.

I don't see why robinrohan is getting so much flack. He obviously felt empathy and compassion for this group of men, just because he didn’t go talk to them, give them money, ect., ect. doesn't mean that he did anything wrong.
There is so many things around this world that would bring up the feelings Robinrohan had, all of us have been in that situation and I can tell you that I have taken the route of inaction. We have to pick and choose whom we want to help. I am sure no one here volunteers, donates, keeps company, protests or whatever everything they have feelings of opposition, pity, empathy, compassion for. Attacking Robinrohan for a small bit of inaction is a good way to tear him down and make one look better saying, "I would of done it". Edited by NeuroCycle, : Spelling/grammar

You said I didn't "do squat." That sounds like criticism to me. The tone is critical. Ah, so YOU percieve "didn't do squat" as critical. It is not then a matter of what I said but of how YOU process it. Trust me, if I wish to criticize you it will be in terms that carry more weight than squat.
If you like I can quote those negative reactions from the other thread that jumped all over me for my "dehumanizing" comment about the Veterans. That's PC-style morality. So you assert. You pull out the old label-maker and zip ---> things are labeled politically correct. I must admit that labeling is much easier than trying to deal with the issues. And again, as I have made clear in everyone of the posts you are responding to here, the loss was yours, not theirs.

No, it is your assertion that this is PC-style morality. Well, if you don't want to call it PC, then call it something else. Whatever it is, it's wrongheaded to call my remarks "dehumanizing."

Attacking Robinrohan for a small bit of inaction is a good way to tear him down and make one look better saying, "I would of done it". Thanks, Neurocycle. Your remarks are extremely sensible.

However, you have no idea why they were sitting silently.
I'm not certain, if that's what you mean. It was just my impression. I'm not a mind reader. But so what? My feelings were in no way "demeaning."
