This kind-of thing happened to me a lot too and I similarly stopped making any effort.
Lately I'm beginning to think that the reason I messed something up by offering help or friendliness was because I had approached the situation with an assumption: "this person needs help" or "won't they be glad I helped them" kind-of thoughts. It probably oozed out of me like so much condenscending cheese.

NeuroCycle writes:
I am not interested in a conversation with them any more or less then the guy in the business suit on the elevator or the child playing street hockey in the park.
Ringo writes:
Topic: I feel sorry for you.
I don't want to make trouble since you have a picture of Lee Van Cleef as your Avatar, but this is too much for me to bear.
Some of us are not, through personal experience, genetics, or a combination of the two, "outgoing" in our personalities. Though I disagree with Neurocycle in that I am interested in conversing with the people he mentioned, I am personally not comfortable enough to initiate these conversations most of the time. I do not feel this is a pityable trait. I find doing so strains my mental faculties in a way I don't enjoy.

I know you're being sarcastic but I'm not really sure what you're being sarcastic about. I don't think anything I said relates to the topic of what you're joking about. This just kinda reeks of you smashing sour grapes into the forum. This will not do.

Kindly allow me to choose whom I pity.
As if I could do otherwise! I'm merely expressing a disagreement.
And maybe I'm just big-boned in the brain.

No worries. It's just unfortunate that you have not earned my favor and, as such, my endless loyalty and a chance to be around my exemplary moral character.

Oh boy! Christmas came early.
I can't wait to find out what I'm stereotyped as. I won't be too offended as long as it's a reasonable assumption and you allow me to change your mind.

This comment is very inappropriate and offensive
I'd like to borrow a line from The Big Lebowski and say:
Offensive?! WHO'S THE FUCKING NIHILIST HERE! WHAT ARE YOU, A FUCKING CRYBABY?
