I wonder of Al is still eating his tenderloin
Are you? Do any or all posters here still munch on steak and such or have you become plant protein consumers. You know, soy chicken, beef, milk, etc.?
If not, it's high time. You'll live longer, too, not making yourself subject to the diseases contained in animal flesh and the chemicals fed to them to keep them from croaking.
quote:
His homes use non-carbon electricity, and he buys carbon offset credits when he travels. (And doesn't it produce less atmospheric carbon for 200 people to fly in one plane than for 200 people to drive in 200 cars?)
I'm not saying that Gore's carbon footprint is precisely zero, but the attempts by conservatives to portray him as some kind of free-wheeling carbon hypocrite aren't based on the facts. At any rate, it's the manufacturing/industry sectors that produce the most carbon, not the actions of private individuals.
In fact, the United Nations Food & Agricultural Association claims that the world’s 1.5 billion cows are worse then all the cars, planes, and all other forms of transportation PUT TOGETHER. Apparently, cows are so dangerous because their “emissions” contain methane gas”a substance thought to heat the atmosphere twenty times more than the carbon dioxide that usually gets all of the press.
Forbidden!
We are talking about hypocrites, which is always others

If I tell you that milk is poisonous and you vote that we ban milk. You aren't being a hypocrite, you are acting on bad information. If you later discover that I was paid a lot of money by haliburton to lie to you about milk, and you say, "Hey man, that's BS!". You still aren't being a hypocrite.
I'd vote for banning milk in a yankee minit. What kind of chemicals does it contain much less the diseases present in animals. It is definitely a yuck food.

This is not just to you, but all who responded regarding animal consumption/animal emissions/global warming.
The best place to view a hypocrite is in the mirror.

Can you post a screenshot of your mirror?
Not saying 'except for me' was not an oversight.

Mmmmm... I think you've got that the wrong way round. 16 years a veggie, and I still have trouble accepting tofu on my plate. It has to be done just right or it just tastes like rubber. But there's a restaurant here in seattle called 'the teapot' which does an all vegan menu full of soy beef/chicken and fish...
I'm salivating just thinking about it.
Applause to you. Not just for YOUR health, but for the health of the planet.

Would you care to substantiate the assertions made in that, uh, article? There are several humdingers, so I suggest you read it again carefully before you start looking for actual data source references.
I found something that said something that said something I wanted said.
I've seen it said in other places, heard it said in other places, then I simply picked what was seen and heard and found it said what I wanted to say. Shoot me!
Before you go to great lengths to capture methane, let's say from cows, think about the resources that will be spent capturing it. You'd need millions and millions of devices hitched to a cow's ass, making sure they don't leak ... and so on.

Re: I wonder of Al is still eating his tenderloin

ve also never been able to understand that. I find that hypocritical because it's like saying, "I don't want to kill that poor animal, but I sure love the way it taste." Though, I myself have never had "veggie meat," so I can't say how much like the real thing it tastes. (Anyone have a personal review?)
That analogy is referring to those who are vegetarian for moral reasons, but I'd imagine those who have that diet because they don't like meat wouldn't seek an imitation. (?)
What you want is for millions of beefs to pass gas and contribute more to the greenhouse effect on this planet than any other method. That is what you want. No?

The methane (biogas) production from farm animals is produced from the decomposition of their waste, not from the gas they release themselves.
(And cattle don't release the methane by farting, but by belching)
Thought you might enjoy this:
I am cow, eating grass
Methane gas comes out my ass
And out my muzzle when I belch
Oh, the ozone layer is thinner
From the outcome of my dinner
I am cow, I am cow, I’ve got gas
