quote: Nope. Not in the least, actually. Being right about something, and being able to demonstrate it, doesn't make me a better person. It just makes me right. If you feel less because you can't do that, that's not my problem.

I would confidently imagine that Nator knows a great deal more about ponies than I (even though I grew up with them and have many years of experience with crazy skittish beasts) because of her systematic education. quote: How do you know he has learned something? Do you have enough knowledge of conformation, breeding, nutrition, training, riding, competing etc. to be able to compare his knowledge and mine? If so, why don't you test us? You do realize that the person jumping the horse in my avatar photo is me, right?

quote: I don't, that's just it. I didn't start this thread, you know. And even if I was occasionally self-righteous about being right in the facts? How would you feel if you had participated on this board for many years, even back when it was just a little Yahoo Club, and Creationist arguments and their willfully ignorant debate tactics against scientific fact hadn't changed at all in all those years?

Larni, the funny thing is that I've spent many an hour mucking, feeding, and dodging the hurtful bits, too.
I've even been fallen on and bitten a couple of times.

quote: They certainly can, yes. It is natural agressive behavior for them.
There's no need to avoid them, though. Most horses that humans come into contact with are trained not to bite. Still, any horse might, just like any dog might bite. You just have to learn to read their body language so as to avoid being bitten, kicked, stepped on, etc. Edited by nator, : No reason given.

quote: You'd be mental too if you were bred to run, run, run, conditioned to be incredibly fit and only go at top speed, fed high-energy food, and kept confined to a little box for 22 hours a day. Not to mention that you are essentially a young teenager, and you were never taught to have manners. You'd be crawling out of your skin at that point, too. I've retrained many ex-racehorses and when they spend 18 hours a day grazing in the pasture and learn that having a rider on board dosn't always mean that they will be sprinting as fast as they can go, they can turn into quite mellow creatures.

What you don't seem to understand, Heinrik, is that I have changed in all those years.
It is a fairly subtle change, and anyone could see it for themselves if they cared to dig back through a sampling of my old posts. I have, for the most part, been very patient with people who are obviously ignorant of science, yet feel completely comfortable criticizing it on the basis of their religious beliefs.

So, are you going to answer the question or continue to give smartass, posturing responses that are nearly devoid of content?
How do you know if Larni has learned anything about horses, and do you have the expertise to test our comparative knowledge? If yes, then let's go. If no, then stop wasting my time and percy's bandwidth. Edited by nator, : No reason given. Edited by nator, : No reason given. Edited by nator, : No reason given.

Again...
bored now. Let me know when you are interested in discussing things thoughtfully and seriously. I tried to engage you, but you have an annoying habit of posting a lot of 'tude and not a lot of content. Plenty of style with very little substance. Edited by nator, : No reason given.
