Re: Forum Oscars - The Rebirth?
Hi, Straggler.
Straggler writes:
I agree with your choice of Phat in many respects but my own personal favourite is Bluejay. Never afraid to challenge his own beliefs and someone who has taught me a lot. I feel genuinely enlightened about why people believe because of Bluejay (amongst others but he stands out) and it has indisputably softened my attitude to faith in my time here (believe it or not).
And, my award for the best nomination goes to Straggler, for nominating Bluejay!
Thank you. Though I don't really think I deserve it: what you call beliefs and faith feels more like chronic indecision and insecurity to me.
I think I can only nominate rational people, because theirs are the only posts I can relate to in any way. So, I'll only recognize two categories: religious and other.
In my view, Iano is far and away the best religious poster on this website (even when I include myself in that number). I have never seen him lose his temper or write a pointed response, and he always responds thoughtfully and articulately, completely unfazed by my polypolar mood swings, and never takes the fundamentalist viewpoint that his opponents are completely wrong (as so many bible-debaters do).
For the non-religious side, I have always been an admirer of Modulous, Percy and Straggler (yes, I'm now referring to you in third-person: it's a bit awkward otherwise). The combination of intelligence, objectivity and clear thinking that y'all display in every debate is something I've tried to emulate, and the opportunity to learn critical thinking skills from y'all is one of the primary reasons I keep coming back to EvC.

A Literary Critique
Hi, RAZD.
What is that?
It looks like it wants to be a limerick, but there's only passing homage to the proper meter, a shocking preponderance of slant rhymes, a total lack of interesting metaphysical imagery, and an air of dull informality that... okay, I'll stop.
It's funny. And, Merry Christmas.
But, my nomination for "Best Poet" goes to Dr Adequate.
