England dominate the second day with more batting heroics from Cook and even some runs for out of form star batsman Pietersen. Page not found – Inthenews Apparently the Aussies are hoping for rain to save them. If that isn't a role reversal I don't know what is.

Rain Dance
The Aussies really are praying for rain!!! This is from an Aus newspaper.
Aus Telegraph Link writes: Here are six simple steps to perform a rain dance, which will hopefully send a downpour on the Pom parade. With showers forecast for today and tomorrow in Adelaide, Aussie fans can help by performing a traditional dance. Link writes: 1) Form two parallel lines about 1m apart. Men stand in one line, women in the other; 2) Step forward with your left foot; 3) Raise your right foot while moving forward and bringing that foot to the floor; 4) Continue to step forward in this way - left foot, right foot higher, stomp the floor. Unlike other native American dances performed in a circle, rain dancers move in a square pattern around the sides of the room or area in which they're dancing; 5) During one measure of the song, and while moving forward, face to the right. During the next measure, face to the left. A zig-zag pattern is formed as you continue in this manner; 6) Dancers can stop and twirl in imitation of the wind, which is showing the promise of rain. Women may chant or sing, and men can yelp with the beat. Of course I give no credence to such silly spiritual nonsense..... (**Straggler sheepishly starts to do the rain dance in reverse in a superstitious attempt to reverse it's effects**) Some things are worth abandoning one's principles for. An England Ashes victory qulaifies for that in my book.

Good first day? I enjoyed it!!! Aus all out for 245 on day one in what appeared to be perfect batting conditions. Too early for proper gloating as yet. But I am polishing my gloating face in anticipation of it seeing some action very soon. Obviously I deeply offended the cricketing deity with the sin of 'thou shalt not wear baseball-style caps' or 'thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s steak sandwich'. Unfortunately my religion does not document potential transgressions in the clear, concise and unchanging manner as the more recognised religions do. I probably needed to drink a few more Pimm’s to reach full understanding of my errors. Regarding the actual cricket, England bowled well, but it was their fielding which most impressed. Two run-outs, caught everything that went their way, looked really sharp. I went again on Saturday to see us make an early breakthrough but then drop a pretty easy catch shortly afterwards — result = no wickets for another two hours. A ritual sacrifice will now be required to save this match (I’m thinking Andrew Hilditch).

We've Won!!!
England have retained the ashes. We have won a series in Australia for the first time since 1986. Not only have we won we have absolutely outplayed them. Not only have we outplayed them the Aussies are looking shell-shocked and in disarray. Beautiful to see. It is 2-1 to England in terms of matches and they are in an unassailable position in the final match. It is all over bar the shouting. (**Straggler heads off to start the shouting**)
