It's always on the TV at the Indian restaurant, but I cannot figure out what is going on.
I think it's kind of a bummer that you can play for such a long time and still have a draw, other than that I'd like to know what is going on.

Re: Draws
I know you Yanks don't get it. But it's griping stuff exactly because of the length of time taken.
Honest.
of course we don't get it, but some of us would like to.
a five day game is not a whole lot different than a best of 7 games series.
My St. Louis Cardinals just won a world series last month, and it took 7 games for them to win. they were down 3 games to 2 and had to win the final two games, and the 6th game took them extra innings to do so. they were 1 out from loosing everything twice in game 6, and they rallied and came back on the Texas Rangers both times.
I think I get that, the long process of winning. And I think I can relate to the nations pride, as we lost the gold medal to the frking Canadians in Ice Hockey, and they get to remind us about it for the next however many years (and they will).
the think I don't get is having a draw in the championship game. Somebody has to win. I think it would mean less if the hockey game ran out of time and the Olympic committee said well great match USA and Canada you both get silver medals and the last champion from the last Olympics retains the gold. or worse you both get golds.

Re: Draws
I am struggling to explain it adequately I know.......
Not really, but you are trying to explain how great sports are to a sports fan. You are preaching to the choir, I get that it can be an exciting game, and people love it. Some people like golf, or Tennis, or watching people drive cars really fast, or cricket or soccer, or whatever.
For the most part in many circumstances draws are really booring to watch. Yeah there may be some good ones, for instance if your team is in the world cup and you are playing the best team in the world and to get to the next round you need to not lose to them, then a draw against them would be great (not as great as an upset), but I think I can understand.
The Ashes as I understand it is a different circumstance, because it is only two teams, and the same two teams play each other for the same trophy every year, here a draw would probably result in the last winner retaining the trophy. It seems more like a rivalry game than a championship. There are a lot of these in USA college football, where one school plays another school every year (and has for 100 years) for a trophy that the winner gets to keep until next year when they both play again.

Re: Draws
I'd put it down in the south west. Somewhere near Baraboo or spring Green. Then you could be secluded but also fee off some tourism runoff.

Re: Draws
i agree it should be a destination, but why would I even know about Spring Green, WI? because of the amazing destination there. would I travel and stay in spring green? no, but I would take a day trip there from the Dells, or from Madison. The Circus brought me to Baraboo, but once again it is a day trip.
There is a lot of fun "destinations" in the cheesey state, but a central location is somewhat key IMHO.
