Re: The Ashes Returns
As long as the Aussies keep catching like schoolgirls the series will be ours.
One of the more pathetic displays of fielding in my memory (although to be fair my memory is pretty crap). But hopefully with Johnson missing out our attack will be able to maintain a more constant pressure on the South African batsmen.
Friday. I have several bets going with Aus members of staff at work. Adelaide is the one they seem to think they will win.
I will be there and have already started praying to the God of Krikkit (there's a deity I can respect).

Re: The Ashes Returns
Good first day? I enjoyed it!!!
Aus all out for 245 on day one in what appeared to be perfect batting conditions. Too early for proper gloating as yet. But I am polishing my gloating face in anticipation of it seeing some action very soon.
Obviously I deeply offended the cricketing deity with the sin of 'thou shalt not wear baseball-style caps' or 'thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s steak sandwich'. Unfortunately my religion does not document potential transgressions in the clear, concise and unchanging manner as the more recognised religions do. I probably needed to drink a few more Pimm’s to reach full understanding of my errors.
Regarding the actual cricket, England bowled well, but it was their fielding which most impressed. Two run-outs, caught everything that went their way, looked really sharp. I went again on Saturday to see us make an early breakthrough but then drop a pretty easy catch shortly afterwards — result = no wickets for another two hours.
A ritual sacrifice will now be required to save this match (I’m thinking Andrew Hilditch).

End of times
Astonishing. After thrashing us in the Ashes England then went on a thrashed the world number 1 team: India. England have now established themselves as best in the world at Test cricket (although they are still godawful in ODIs).
So thus this makes the Poms number 1 @
Test cricket.
Cheese rolling.
I think that's it.

I can't wait until Straggler starts to try and explain the Duckworth Lewis Method.

Re: Cricket, pudding, bangers & mash
I think Chuck would've sounded more authentic if he said he was having a pint & a curry while watching the cricket.
