Do they have make up tests? Are they graded on a curve?

Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Re: Chirp
According to the Guinnes book of records the fastest cricket delivery recorded was 100.23 MPH. Googling suggests the fastest baseball pitcher achieved 105 MPH.
That's pretty close.
The bowler gets there partly because of a running delivery. The pitcher with the use of the elbow muscles.

Re: Summer 2013 - Ashes to Ashes
Well thanks for leaving me in the dark.
There's no real value in knowing.
"A duck" means a score of zero. "Stumps" is end of play for the day, when they pull up the stumps (those wooden posts). And "at tea" means there's a scheduled refreshment break.

No. Bowled Siddle. 31 for 3 at stumps. Root still in. Bresnan playing night watchman for Bell.

International cricketers don't wear makeup. Although coloured sunscreen in war paint style patterns was seen in the 90s. Grade cricket is Aussie domestic cricket. And swerve in cricket is called swing. Jimmy Anderson is England's best bowler and master of reverse swing.
Glad you asked

Things have settled down thank goodness. Get to about 550 ahead then have a go at them ?

Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

It's quite simple really
Apologies if this has been posted before, but I haven't checked.
Cricket is quite straightforward really.
You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out.
When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game.

Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

You do have a point. But the same could be said of just about any sport.
