Straggler notes:
England have it all to do after Aus batted for two days to make a score of 500.
See? That's just a ridiculous kind of magnitude for a score. It is certainly better than succer where both teams are bound and determined to not score and for the most part succeed.

Go Proteas
I'm going to stir a few things here. Only because I love cricket and I would love to see the comments. We'll see what second rate teams such as England and Australia do. It's interesting, but they remain second rate teams. The also-runs in test cricket.

Have you noticed how no-one plays international cricket any more? Apparently all the major cricketing nations got together and decided that as England is clearly the best, there's really no point in playing against them. And that's why there's no need for anyone to post anything on this thread ever again.

How about a real sport? Football!
No, not that succer stuff but real football where the teams actually score points ... more than once. The National Football League (NFL) season is over and all the seeds for the playoffs are set for the run to the Super Bowl. Teams only play once per week. Each round of playoff games are played on consecutive Saturday/Sundays for the next 3 weeks. Each conference, AFC and NFC, playoff to the Conference Championship. The two Conference Champions play the Super Bowl. The first round is the wildcard round. Seeds 3 thru 6 play and the winners go to the second round and meet seeds 1 and 2 the following week. The winners of those games go on to the Conference Championship game (hosted by the remaining top seeded team). See update in message 326 below. Edited by AZPaul3, : No reason given. Cowboys did not once again make the post season.
All they had to do was get it into field goal range and score the 3 points. But NOOOOoooooOOOooooooooooooOooooo!!!!!!"You were not there for the beginning. You will not be there for the end. Your knowledge of what is going on can only be superficial and relative" William S. Burroughs

I'd take a injured Peyton for a healthy Romo anyday.
btw I think the Broncos will go all the way this year. "You were not there for the beginning. You will not be there for the end. Your knowledge of what is going on can only be superficial and relative" William S. Burroughs

Poor Tony. The glamour position on the glamour team and he steps on his dick every December. I think he has pictures of Jerry, that's got to be the reason he's still there.
As for the Broncos ... my heart keeps trying to believe but there is this nagging depressing little voice in my head that keeps saying, "Tom Brady". I can't shake it, but I do hope. Wouldn't that put a star in the heavens! Oh, and watch out for Seattle. Edited by AZPaul3, : cuz

Unexpected high scoring passing shootout between quarterbacks Andrew Luck (Colts) and Alex Smith (KC). Indianapolis Colts stunned the Kansas City Chiefs winning 45-44 after being behind 38-10 in the 3rd quarter.
Philly took their only lead in the game late in 4th quarter 24-23. New Orleans had the ball in the final 2 minutes, went down the field eating up the clock for a last second field goal to win 26-24. San Diego's defence dogged and harassed Cincy QB Andy Dalton resulting in Dalton's 1 sack, 2 fumbles and 2 interceptions and just a whole slue of hurries and knockdowns. Dalton had 22 incomplete passes because of this pressure. SD QB Philip Rivers shot only 128 yards passing but the running game gave San Diego the 27-10 victory. San Fran Quarterback Colin Kaepernick scrambles for a total 98 yards, more rushing yards than any other player on the field, giving the 49ers a last second field goal and the win 23-20. Cold, like 5o f, hampered play on both sides in a back and forth game, score for score. As usual in games like this the team with the ball last gets down the field just enough for the kicker. From heroes to zeroes.
England lost the ashes 5 games to nil during the latest tour of Australia. Utterly whitewashed. each game more embarressingly lost than the last. It was one of the most one-sided contests between the two sides ever. The post-mortem is ongoing. But English cricket fans are in a state of despondent bewilderment. The Aussies (needless to say) are rubbing it in something rotten. (***Straggler slowly trudges off depressed and dismayed***)

England lost the ashes 5 games to nil ... Yah, I heard ... and watched ... but since you weren't around to cry at I went with the game of more cosmic significance. If you're going to be around for more than just a few fleeting seconds I will give you your thread back. If not ... I'll continue to use/abuse it.
