Author | Topic: Persecuted Christians finally getting noticed | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Finally here and there a trickle of news about how Christians are persecuted all over the world, especially in the Muslim world, is starting to come out. You probably can't understand how astonishing this is to me, but I've known about these enormities for years through Christian sources and hardly ever see any of it reported in the major media. Yeah. This woman is going to be put to death for being a Christian, so the big story is how Faith has been persecuted by the "major media". Of course, if Faith ever looked at the "major media", she'd notice how they keep reporting on this sort of thing, but as she doesn't, as in fact she just looks at her sort of Christian whining about how the things they learn about via the media are never reported there, she can whine about how she is being martyred. Meanwhile, a woman is facing death for not renouncing her faith --- as we know because the media reported it. Is there anything we can do about it other than hailing Faith as a True Christian Martyr who has been crucified by the Evil Media? She didn't mention this in her post, she was too busy castigating the media that told her about it.

Why, thank you for your kind and Christian words.
In the meantime I asked a question. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO ABOUT THIS? I asked this in my first post, but instead of answering this, you have chosen to rant about how I'm evil. Instead of actually giving a damn about this woman who is going to be put to death for her free speech and freedom of religion by actual evil people, you want to talk about ... me, I who have never killed anyone. Apparently she's just a hook on which you can hang your complaints about me and the media. Say, without looking it up, can you even remember her name? I will ask you again, is there something I can do? Is someone working on a petition to be delivered to the Sudanese ambassador to the US? What can I do? Can I do anything? But that is apparently not what concerns you. Edited by Dr Adequate, : No reason given.

A petition may be found here. But does the Sudanese government even read petitions organized by change.org? How is it to be delivered to them? I signed it anyway, but if anyone knows of anything better calculated to draw their attention, please let us know.
In the meantime, I have written directly to the Sudanese embassy to the US: their website is here. Edited by Dr Adequate, : No reason given.

Good point. For those who don't know, here is a website that tells you who your congressman/woman is. I just wrote to mine.

How about also protesting the girls kidnapped from school in Nigeria. To whom? I have privately been screaming about this, as you'd know if you could see my facebook page, which you can't. But with whom should I lodge a protest? The official government of Nigeria is against this, I can't protest to them, they agree with me. The government of the US has sent people to find them. That's good. But it means I can't protest to them, they're on my side and taking action. The whackjob loony leader of "Boko Haram" is responsible for all this, but I can't protest to him, partly because he's insane, and partly because if I knew how to get in touch with him I wouldn't bother writing letters, I'd apply for the $7,000,000 bounty on his head. Where do I file my protest? Where did you file yours? To whom do we address it? Again, I would ask you, since you raised the subject: what can I do? What action can I take? You have once more raised the subject without including this information in your post, as though you want to complain about stuff but have no interest in anyone actually doing anything about it. If you can think of anything we should be doing, do let us all know. Edited by Dr Adequate, : No reason given.

They wouldn't be welcome to the point of not being allowed to stay in the country. The U.S. is not the only place in the world with immigration laws.

Yeah, there's not much of a guard on the U.S.-Sudan border. And once the intrepid Christians have crossed, they'll blend easily into the surrounding population, which I'm fairly sure consists largely of white people who don't speak Arabic.

Meriam Ibrahim 'to be freed' from death row in Sudan
A senior Khartoum official reveals that Meriam Ibrahim will be freed following worldwide protests about her treatment This is more of a rumor than an official declaration as yet:
A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: "We are aware of and urgently seeking clarification from the Sudanese authorities of reports that Meriam Ibrahim, the mother facing the death penalty in Sudan, is to be freed."

Condemned Christian woman to take blasphemy case to top Pakistani court
She was sentenced to death for allegedly saying something --- not for printing or broadcasting something, but allegedly saying something --- derogatory about Muhammad. And then ...
An investigation by Shahbaz Bhatti, who was then Pakistan's minister for minority affairs, also found the charges stemmed from religious and personal enmity, and he recommended Bibi's release. Bhatti was the only Christian member of the Cabinet in Pakistan, where 95% of people are Muslim, and had opposed the blasphemy law. In 2011, he was assassinated in Islamabad. The Pakistan Taliban claimed responsibility, saying the killing was "a message to all of those who are against Pakistan's blasphemy laws."Two months earlier, the governor of Punjab province, Salman Taseer, had been shot dead by his security guard because he, too, had supported Bibi and spoken out against the law. Here is how to contact the Pakistani embassy to the U.S.
