In my opinion, when a male limits his love to only one other male, he is basically becoming idolatrous...avoiding Jesus...and living "in the flesh". Are you trying to denigrate a male-male marriage by saying that it means that the male is limiting his love to one male, and therefore no longer loving Jesus? Why doesn't that happen when a woman marries a man? Why can't the man love his husband and also love Jesus?

My point is that if a man and woman get married, the purpose is to raise a family. Two men have no such restriction... These gay men are raising families:
...and should not have a need to focus exclusively on each other. Let me get this straight. A man and a woman can get married, as they are going to raise a family, so they can still love god first. But two men can somehow not raise a family, which means that need to focus exclusively on each other, and therefore they cannot love god first? Is that what you are trying to say?

there is little need for two of the same gender to marry since it is selfish to focus on each other to the exclusion of others I can't make the connection between gay marriage and focusing on each other to the exclusion of others. How'd you do it?

I see no point nor purpose for marriage between two men. Its right there, Phat. Its all that spiritual union stuff you're talking about. Your whole argument looks like Begging the Question to me. That is, the thing you are concluding (that two men shouldn't get married) is one of the premises that you are starting with.

A man who loves Jesus first...with his whole heart, soul, mind and strength has no need of another man to idolize, fantasize over and worship.(nor to need sex) By that logic, women shouldn't marry men either.

If either partner finds themself idolizing the other and/or worshiping them than no, they shouldn't be married. If two men who are in a relationship do not finds themself idolizing the other and/or worshiping them, then should they be married?

I think that allowing gays (or any couple) to do whatever they want is not how the church should be. the church should encourage people to pursue their higher calling... I suppose the church should not demand that you come clean about what you do in the bedroom... but they should encourage their members to pursue higher callings. Perhaps the whole same sex thing should not be a major issue any more. Perhaps people in general should just be all treated the same. What the churches could be doing is encouraging the two men to have a matrimony that is holy, in the same way that they do for a man and women. You know, giving yourself totally to the other person while keeping your union loving and promoting of good values. Staying hung up on whether or not they should "allow" it, while the men are going out and getting married, misses out on a great opportunity to keep God in the picture. They're going to have to stop being so dogmatic about hating men lying together if they don't want to be left in the dust.

Don't let them kid you, they've been evolving for centuries. And never without this same old restraint.

Just a side bar point: there are no unwanted children in same-sex marriages. Its wrong to think that gay people can't have children. They do: Message 10

It's blasphemy to call an unnatural union "holy." Have fun being left in the dust!

The church's job is to stand against the world. If the world comes up with blasphemous ideas the church is to stand against them. The church goes apostate and falls away from God when it begins to care about "being left in the dust." Don't let the door hit you on the way out!

Yes; but the children they have are all wanted. Every single one of them?

How many unintended pregnancies occur between homosexuals? Between them? Have you just failed to consider homosexuals having children with members of the opposite sex? They could get married before or after that event and still end up with a child they don't want. Especially if the other parent dies.

I considered that. But I don't think that is at all what xongsmith was talking about. Do you? I'm not sure. It was a one-liner that read like a joke. It implied that gays can't have children, which is why I made the point that I did. What did you think they meant that made you side with gays not being able to have unwanted children?

Same-sex marriages, with the exception of rape, either have to arrange a surrogate mother or a donor male or go through the bureaucratic complications of adoption. There are tons of people who have had children before they got into same-sex relationships.
