I find his tax plan interesting but I have a major problem with it. He talks about abolishing income tax and replacing it with a consumption or sales tax. To make it progressive everyone would get a cheque in the amount of the sales tax up to a defined poverty level.
Doesn't this eliminate the ability for any kind of social assistance. I agree that both of our countries do a poor job of targeting and assisting those who need help but I don't see any way of targeting at all with this particular tax plan.
Everybody is entitled to my opinion.
