Dr. Light, Charles Knight, and a reply so Bright!
CK writes:
OK - Let's say we have a character... let's call him Dr.Light.
Another character shoots Lightning at it
at what? at Dr. Light?
(bear with me!) and he is able to catch/deflect/control it.
Now my knowledge of Lightning is limited but would he
He who? The second character or Dr. Light?
be actually able to do that?
Obviously in your universe!
My understanding is that the visual bit of lightning is not actually connected to the electric current bit? It's more of an indicator of where it's been (charged ions or the like?).
I am moving you into the seat beside Guido, and we need to get a good teacher! Lam? Where are you?
Sorry if that's bit of a ramble
No you are not! You like to ramble!
but I'm a bit in the dark about this (pun intended). Anyone able to help me out or even able to understand what I'm on about?
Good puns, BTW!
Are we gonna go scientific and talk about lightning or are we gonna go SciFi and find out more about the elusive Dr. Light and his buddy, Buzz Lightning?

Maxwells silver hammer
Max writes:
Or... why not get really advanced and create images of things that aren't really there? I mean, everything we see is actually just light hitting our eyes, so if you could truly and fully "control light" you should be able to create illusions galore.
Is not the concept of vision just a reflection of an image? If so, and if the visible is really invisible until defined in our minds, would it not follow that we only think that we can imagine anything? In reality, what if image is an outer reality that we merely define?
I never bought that S.I. swimsuit issue yet, BTW

A riddle wrapped in a mystery
Lam writes:
My question to you is what good will the ability to control light do aside from not allowing someone to see something?
It was 2 a.m. The preacher carefully put away the hymnals where everyone earlier sang a stirring rendition of "I saw The Light."
He realized that by telling everyone more about the light, they saw something in him that shone on them....blinded them, really. He laughed. So he had them fooled! Soon, all of their money would be his, as well as their souls!
His enthusiasm was interuppted by a tremendous clash of thunder! He ran to the window and looked out...when a sudden blast of lightning knocked him out.
They later found him, stiff as a board and still clutching the song pages of "I saw the Light"...burned a bit more, now.

I am still "in the dark" about our hero Dr. Light. Whatever happened to him?
