OK - let's say we have a character that can control light (let's not get much more complex than that), let's call him Dr.Light.
Another character shots Lightning at it (bear with me!) and he is able to catch/deflect/control it.
Now my knowledge of Lightning is limited but would he be actually able to do that? My understanding is that the visual bit of lightning is not actually connected to the electric current bit? It's more of an indicator of where it's been (charged ions or the like?).
Sorry if that's bit of a ramble but I'm a bit in the dark about this (pun intended). Anyone able to help me out or even able to understand what I'm on about?

Re: Dr. Light, Charles Knight, and a reply so Bright!
I'm more interested in the Lightning bit - what is it that we see?
My understanding is that the visual bit is basically a indicator of where it has been not where it is.

He's actually a bad guy - It's not something I'm writting he's a badguy in a DC Comic. The other half got me an interesting book on Superhero Science and I was wondering about the "control" of lightning as the book never covered it.

Strangely the first episode of the new series actually has an honest-to- god evil trashcan in it....
