Everyone is earning a living. You can't buy bread with a cryptocurrency or with a hunk of gold. But the dollar will go down. The future solution will likely be a combination of digital currency/crypto and solid backing. Gold is a proven solid backing. The human value would be another possibility. Your fiat currencies will not stay afloat.

Before you lecture me on research, research the following.

  • How much Gold does China own?
  • What are the prospects for interest rates becoming negative? Can it happen? What are the probabilities?

Re: Todays Facts from Yahoo Finance
Since you're saying nothing of substance, just throwing out spurious claims, why do you keep talking?

    Phat writes:

But the dollar will go down.

The value of the dollar goes up and down all the time, so presumably you're declaring that the dollar will go into a sustained decline. Why do you think this?

The future solution will likely be a combination of digital currency/crypto and solid backing. Gold is a proven solid backing.

If currencies were backed by a mineral, say gold, then economies could grow no faster than the supply of the mineral. I once gave you exact figures showing that a world economy backed by gold could only become poorer and poorer because the world population is growing faster than the supply of gold. You never addressed this point. You never address any point. It's like you're imitating the worst type of creationist, one who never provides any data or answers any rebuttal but just drones on and on repeating his points ad infinitum.

The human value would be another possibility. Your fiat currencies will not stay afloat.

Another bald statement. Why do you think this?

Before you lecture me on research, research the following.

This is the height of irony given that nothing you say is accompanied by facts or rational arguments.

  • How much Gold does China own?
  • I questioned this in another thread, but I'll repeat it. Why do you care how much gold the Chinese have? We think they have around $120 billion of gold. Let's say it's much more and that they actually have $500 billion. So what? Explain why you think it matters. Show that you've done some research instead of just listening to the YouTube yokels you're hooked on. Please quit collecting garbage on the Internet and spreading it here.

  • What are the prospects for interest rates becoming negative? Can it happen? What are the probabilities?
  • You tell us? What are the conditions that might cause negative interest rates and why might it happen here?

You should ask Phat why, according to his understanding, an once of gold is worth more than a ton of lead. Price of lead on 10/19/2020: $1,743 per ton. Price on 08/18/2021: $2,504. That's a 44% increase in less than a year. Phat should bye a ton of lead. He's going to need a bigger safe deposit box.

Starting two years ago, these theories are no longer just a curiosity—negative rates are now a reality in the world of finance. In fact, it is the stated policy of some of the biggest central banks in the world.

The European Central Bank, the Bank of Japan, and the central banks of Sweden, Denmark, and Switzerland have all dropped their interest rates below zero since early 2014.

We will explore nine real-world scenarios that could play out if negative rates continue to rise in popularity among the world’s central bankers.

  • Negative rates for the consumer
  • Upheaval in retirement instruments
  • Consumers will be encouraged to invest in real estate
  • More manufacturing jobs
  • Better cash flow for small businesses
  • Instability and distrust in financial markets
  • Pay to store paper money
  • Mortgages that pay you
  • What does everyone think of this?

I suspect 'everyone' thinks that you're going more than a bit crazy. Reading about everything that you think is going wrong with the world and trying to find crazy ways to defend against them.

    “Doom, doom, we're all doomed!”

All this whacky health stuff, buying gold, listening to bonkers preachers, searching the internet for other mad/extreme views. It's not normal and it's not doing you any good.

You shouldn't be asking people to "read this" and "watch that." Perhaps if you try to express these ideas in your own words they'll sound crazy to you, too, but even if they don't at least your own words will represent your own understanding.

Re: Todays Facts from Yahoo Finance
Duly Noted. Against the tug of my emotions and based on my (whats left of) my logic, I am suspending myself for a month in order to take care of my health. In addition, I am getting back in touch with my endocrinologist.

I may still be crazy when I get back, but it is my hope that we can at least rule out high blood sugar as the culprit.

Today is September 4th, 2021. I need a good month of self-imposed discipline. I will see you guys around October...perhaps October 9th is a good day. The Union Stewards conference for a very important upcoming contract is coming due around the first part of next year and we are having a conference Oct 13th and 14th, which would be a good topic for me to explore. Unless my sugars don't come down to where I can handle them...which is under 7.0 A1C. They are at 10.4 now. It likely will take 3 months to come all the way down but I want to be firmly headed in that direction.

Thanks to all of you who actually care. I apologize for my rants.

    I apologize for my rants.

Why? No one else does. Ranting is part of the fun of this place.

Yeah, go get your physical self right. Taking a break from this place can help. You go thru a lot of pushback in these pages, deservedly so, but that has got to be wearing. Without this release for your emotions, however, this next month could be even harder.

Up at the top of this page is a command bar. One of the commands is 'Messaging'. If things in your head get bad, Phat, use that button. You know there are at least a half-dozen of us here ready to help you if we can.
