Jerry Falwell
This question is for anyone who feels the same way Mr. Falwell does. If God is willing to slam airplanes into buildings to express his displeasure with homosexuals, then why is he not willing to, say, cause it to rain on the day of a massive gay pride parade?
I would agree that secular thought has greatly contributed to all the problems we face in the world today. But God doesn't ask people or compel people to slam airplanes into planes to display His displeasure. He simply allows man's freewill to take them wherever they may go. I'm a Christian, however, I have serious doubts as to whether or not Jerry is. In my mind, he is as close to being a Pharisee as anyone I've ever known. Perhaps he should ask himself how he has personally contributed to the black eye that all of Christendom has suffered at the hands of some of these rogue Crusaders. But then again, we all had a hand in the problems we face. So maybe if everyone blamed themselves we'd all be better off.
So God's willing to take an active, murderous (or at least manslaughterous) hand in the fate of America because of our attitude toward homosexuals, but he won't whistle up a storm cloud or two to send everybody home when we come out to say "gays are ok"? I mean, c'mon... as far as discouraging people goes, there's a reason the phrase "rain on their parade" is a classic.
People like Falwell demonize homosexuality. I agree that homosexuality is an aberration and I make no apology for believing that. However, to arrive at the conclusion that 9/11 happened because of homosexuality is about as ridiculous as anything I've ever heard. Homosexuals are as much as a sinner as I am. The only difference is, I can admit it. Engaging in homosexuality is no different than Jerry's daughter engaing in an extra-marrital affair. Sin is sin, and no sin trumps another in the eyes of Him who institutes Law.

Re: More wilfull ignorance.
I recommend you study the history of what happened in north and south america from 1500-1800. In 200 years 95% of all people who had been leaving in north america were dead. Now, was this all christian missionaries? Of course not... but it was done by christians for the most part; often in the name of the church (particulary in spain's case).
The thing is, people and their pomp have been distorting Jesus from the beginning. How anyone arrived at the conclusions that the Crusades or the Catholic Conquistadors were justified is beyond me. They did what they did and I'm certain that God is not silent on the issue. If we cannot truly repent then we cannot truly be granted amnesty under His grace. This is why Jesus stated that many will call Him by His name, but they will not be saved, because as He says, "I never knew you." People fall into the religious pit all the time, and good Christians get lumped in with the bad yeast. Its religiosity that masquerades as righteousness, and unfortunately, many fall into it.
If ever I was going to give you good advice and to have you reject and forsake anything else that I say, take this one thing onboard. We don't judge Christ by Christians, judge Christians by Christ, as even the very name means 'Christ-like.'. Anytime a self-proclaimed Christian commits atrocities, such as what you described, never knew God. Jesus also warns that people will come in His name with the appearance of a sheep, but inwardly, they are ferocious wolves. There are only three types of people in this world: Sheeps, goats, and wolves, and by their fruits, you will recognize them.
