Re: R.I.P. Kodachrome
I guess I can quit feeling guilty about all the un-shot rolls in my freezer. The last couple years I was shooting film it seemed to me that the colors I was getting with Kodachrome just were not as vibrant as they used to be.
I switched to digital a few years ago and have not shot a single roll of film since.
My wife will be glad to have the space in the freezer, but she's pissed about the money I spent on all those un-shot rolls. At least I am not spending $8 a roll to get them developed anymore.

Re: R.I.P. Kodachrome
i have a bulk roll of techpan here somewhere, and the chems for it
That's funny! I have one also, but I shot quite a bit of it back in the day. I had a formula for developer that was very, very fine grain and it was really tricky to develop evenly. Man, I could make huge prints of insects with it! I still have my darkroom and enlarger and sink, but my wife turned it into her computer lab.
I experimented a lot with Kodalith Pan also, still have a couple bulk rolls of it and boxes of 8x10 sheets.
Photoshop and an Epson printer sure took the tedium out of the process.

Re: R.I.P. Kodachrome
Yeah, I still have a color 4x5 enlarger, also. And a beautiful Nikon F5 with a data back. I will keep them and my grandson has been after me to show him how we used to do it in the "olden days." I try to take advantage of any time he wants to spend with me. He even likes going out collecting dragonflies with me.
I used to print on Cibachrome. I wonder if it is gone too?

But there is still the photo-eye. That's the one thing they haven't computerized yet.
Yep, the eye will never die.
