Would you find it appropriate to talk about irreducible complexity, Intelligent Design, etc. in a religious class ?

It'd be more appropriate in a religion class than in a science class IMO. The IDers would fight you on it of course, they would not want to admit to ID being religious in nature.

I would think that it would not pose a problem to IDers,

Check out the Dover trial where the IDers tried to insist that ID was not religious based and were shown to be lying.

And to think, in the early decades of our republic all of the nation's public school kiddies had two required evangelical text books; the Holy Bible and Watt's Hymnal.

As well in the past your republic allowed slavery and limited the rights of women.
