That link links to the bill itself. Very self-explanatory. Why do I think this bill is aimed toward homosexuals? Previous legislations have prohibited such refusal to provide health care based on race, religion, and ethnic group. However, there hasn't been any legislation that prohibited discrimination based on sexual orientation. Essensially, the only group that is in danger are gays. Right wingers are now attacking people at a new low level. It's not just marriage or adoption rights anymore. It's the right to have health care that they want to take away from other human beings.

You're kinda right, but not really. As I understand it, there are 2 more bills on their way to being voted on. One would allow insurers to deny insurance policy based on moral and ethical reasons and the other one would allow pharmacists the right to not distribute drugs based on moral and ethical reasons. I think you're wrong about it being targeted towards homosexuals, although it might very well be. It appears to me to be targeted against people who want to buy birth control, which I recall was a situation that actually came up. This specific bill, I think, is aimed more at allowing physicians to choose who they will treat and who they will not treat.

Now that I think about it more, you do have a point. This legislation affects a great many more than just homosexuals. The pierced, the tattooed, the smoker, the non-religious, the non-christian, the Muslim, the sexually promiscuous, etc. are all possible victims.

Now that all the drugs are out of my system (j/k), the above statement is rediculous. Just about everything under the sun is covered by constitutional protection that curbs this bill, except for sexuality. The only things left (and I really think this bill is really aiming for) are abortion and homosexuality. I really don't think the conservatives were thinking about the pierced and the tattooed when they pushed for this bill. Oh yeah, buzzsaw, I guess we're even, if you know what I mean. A: Homosexuals are evil.B: I'm... um... gay. B: Conservatives are evil.A: I'm a conservative.

I don't know, because I've been skimming through both of your posts instead of actually reading them.
Can you tell me where I was wrong? If not, please stop acting all high and mighty.
Oh, sure... I'll do just that...

Since you know so much about the theory of evolution and population genetics, perhaps you would like to write a paper and submit it to the peer review process to refute this peer reviewed paper on pubmed. I have said that homosexuality doesn't make any sense, in evolution it is a bad survival strategy, for the species esp. I really don't understand why this has made you think that I have prejudices againt homosexuals.
This paper was brought to my attention by this post by Pinky. I'm sure your parents will be proud once you've successfuly refuted so many scientists and have your name all over the news paper. A true prodigy you are.

It wasn't the part about homosexuals that set me off. It was the part where you suddenly became an expert in population genetics and used that for your agenda/bigotry. I'm a "tolerant left". I accept that some people are bigots. I just get mad when they don't admit it and suddenly become scientists and use all kinds of scientific pseudofacts to try to explain why they're not really bigots and that it's only scientifically correct to consider something the way they consider it.
As to your questions, I will not respond to you. If you haven't noticed, I haven't been participating. I don't like talking to deaf ears... or rather blind eyes. Just stop pretending to be a scientist and you can flame on about gay people all you want without dealing with me.

I haven't complained once about what you have against homosexuality. Look again. I was complaining about your waving around that wonderful population genetics knowledge you supposedly had. Besides, I do have a beating heart. You already have your hands full with holmes, berberry, and a few others. Why complain and refuse to add to anything positive to the topic. And you never bothered to question how or why you started liking girls. You should be aware that just the thought of being with a girl makes me want to vomit. In my early days, I never understood why people liked girls. I think you are currently in the same mindset. You think in an egocentric way: I like girls, therefore it must be the natural way for everyone. I like pizza, therefore Chinese people are unnatural because they don't like pizza. Nope, through society's impact on me, and mainly a natural feeling about it, I sort of realized that I like girls. Which, by the way, my dad is still convinced that Americans are unnatural because they don't physically discipline their kids, they eat hamburgers, they wear shoes most of the day, name their kids after their elders (in asian culture, you only name your kids your enemies' names... it makes you your enemies' father, which is suppose to be an insult to them), etc. He's old, so I'm not going to try to change his mindset on that. You're young, so you need to realize that not everyone like the same food as you do. That's my 2 dong for the day.
