Would you care to point out the ones that you choose to ignore or do you actually follow all of these? This is starting to bug me. It's irresponsible to go and fecth verses/laws from the OT and post them, without including the ones that were fulfilled by Jesus. I think this is a point of confusion for many people.

I'm not about to waste this life grovelling to some unknown entity for the sake of the next. But would you follow in your heart what you know to be true?

So far no one has been able to produce such a critter. That's pretty amazing, because I thought there were over 350 prophecies filled.
You ask "Why atheists don't believe" and IMHO one major reason is that Christians bring forward such utter nonsense "proofs". I have not brought forth any proof's. You cannot prove God.
When shown absolutely ridiculous propaganda films like the one about the banana, or all the prophecy quotemining, the only possible reaction from someone who is capable of critical thinking is that "These folk are crazy or stupid!" I thought I made myself clear that I was omitting the banana thing, otherwise it's fine. For the umpth time, there is a time and a place for everything.
One big reason that atheists don't believe is that so many Christians not only don't provided them something worth believing in, but they provide so called evidence that is insulting to the intellegence of the person they are trying to convince. It's not my job to provide anything for them to believe in. It is only my job to love, and tell them gospel, so they can judge for themselves. Like jano was saying in the other thread, their salvation does rest on my shoulders, which is debatable to a point, but as long as I am following the golden rules, them I am ok. Not everyone requires the same "evidence". If you will, give an example of this so called evidence.

This is your beliefs layed bare before you. Here is the authority of Jesus on this issue. That's my point. It's not. If you think it is, then your missing the truth, and I understand why you don't believe.
So here we have christ saying that the laws still pertain and shall pertain until all be fulfilled. Thus the laws I outlined still apply and I ask again which do you choose to ignore and why? It was all fulfilled already, that is why things are different. You owe your disbelief to what Jesus did for you.

Some of the evidence that Christians do supply are things like the intoreance and bigotry of the televangelists and many Christians that post here at EvC. It is things like the absolutely embarassing video that instigated this thread. It is claims like the silly prophecy fullfilled arguments presented, it is the wilfull ignorance of the YECs and anti-evolution Christians here and out in the world, it is the websites of DrDino and Gene Scott and Ron Wyatt and AIG and ICR. And you owe this line of thinking to what? One could even argue that the differences between the gospel according to jar, and some of the things I believe, and the way you voice them will send people running from Christianity. You will not convert the world, or "show people evidence" by giving into them. Yet you must be realistic, and I appreciate your approach, I am fine with it.

Your avatar is fighting its way through the jungle, but the enemy is us! Oh, absolutely. I am my own worse enemy, and my short comings can interfere with what Jesus wants for us. My avatar is just a joke, representing the battle that goes on in here. I think it's funny. I don't take the debating all that seriously, but I do take the people in here seriously. The reason I don't take the debating all that seriously, is because we all have something to learn, and it sucks to be set in our ways. Also because I fall in the middle of a lot of issues.
I agree with Jar that Christians drive people away from Christianity. More than anything else. It's the churches fault (people) for the lack of participation. But we are not totally to blame. All the so-called smart people who "know what God isn't" don't really make an effort to correct it. Insted they just leave the church, and point fingers. It takes 2 to tango, so I am not taking all the blame for anything. jar wants to quickly to put all the Christians down, but the bible says love everyone like yourself, not just atheists. Remember that IF the Truth is as we believe it to be, God Himself will draw all men unto Himself. Yes, even the bad will draw you to God. Even the disbelief will.
I would not worry about those who occasionally attack the Christian idea of truth...they don't understand what makes them so irate! I think I do, so that is what I am trying to clue them in on.It's ok to be irate. You say its not your job to get them to believe....but it IS our job to be receivable because if they receive you, they will have a conduit to God. Hopefully. and make some friends along the way. Your not arrogant, but helpful, I love your spirit.

I think that is very, very clear from what I said.
If it was, I wouldn't have asked. I think you do not know what I am talking about.
You can argue anything. That has nothing to do with facts or reality. exactly.
What I suggest is that Christians might consider trying to live a Christian life. Preach by example. It's what you do that testifies. You don't do anything on a forum, you just write words, and they get mis-interpreted. In real life you can show people love, and "walk the walk". Even still, your not Jesus, and neither am I. It's all relative. Can you keep your comments about the video, to that thread, it has no place here. I am mearly exploring why atheists don't believe, and if they believe in anything at all. If you or any of the atheists are as smart as you say you are, then you should know that you cannot rely on other people to find God. Christians are not Jesus, and who they are in Christ is relative to who they were in the world.

You asked why atheists don't believe. IMHO the answer is that they look at the visible Christians and say "I simply don't want to be even vaguely associated with the Christians I see." Yes, I agree, but the video is trying to separate from that. In a few of them, they even tell the person that you do not need to go to church. Just to encourage them to pick up a bible, and think about it. Everyone in that thread, and now you in this one, keeps saying the video, the video, it sucks, it's for stupid people. But aside from the banana thing, I have read no attacks on the actual content, and why it is wrong. There is nothing wrong with letting people know, by their own admissions (and mine for myself) we are sinners, and that Jesus forgives us. Tell me, what is wrong with that?

So what? That's their belief. They have no empirical evidence. IF you love your mother, or anything, do you need emprical evidence to prove it? Or do you just know that you love something?
There's no doubting the power of myth and mystery to inspire, but there's also no doubting the power of dogma to oppress. So true.

I don't believe in your sky god (or any god) because I can see it is self evident that SOMEONE made it up. Right, but to get to know God, you do not need to go to a church, or give money, or any other requirement other than to just believe in Him, and follow His ways. Studying it, is not enough. Spending some time praying, and asking God things is much better.

There's lots I believe on authority without actual inspection of any evidence whatsoever. Such as?

Yes, very good. I am not making a case for God here, just explaining that the same way you know you love your mother, is the same way you will know God exists, when and if you meet Him.
Inothers words you will know, because it will come from you.

Well for startes my wife told me she changed shifts with a coworker, so she had this day of, and was at work yesterday. I never heard this conversation, so I have no evidence of it, but I generally accept her statements on faith. So when I write out my testimony, like I did in this thread, do you believe that I am experiencing what I say? I mean this is not a fair comparason, since you know your wife, and generally speaking you trust her, and believe what she says, you have no reason to doubt her. So it is evidence when she tells you something. In the court room of your head she is a viable witness.

I didn't ask him if he would believe in God based on what I say. I asked him if he believes that I am experiencing what I think I am.
Different.

Dude, please don't tell me what I meant to say. There was no difference between the 2 quotes from me.
I am asking him, about my belief, not about God. In other words. I believe in God, do you believe me?
