That argument is 100% bogus. Racist is racist is racist and you cannot allow for one definition to accommodate racism for one race while at the same time holding another race to a higher standard.By your argument one could say one must understand the South's experience to justify slavery and segregation.You still have Wright's problem with his close ties to the Nation of Islam relative to Obama's childhood Muslim life with his dad and stepdad as well as his Muslim schooling as a child. Just who is this Wright professing Christian man who courts and honors Nation of Islam's leaders; those people who spew out hatred for America, black power and the Jews, etc? Just who is Obama who likes the likes and of Wright and obviously likes what he's been propagating for 23 years to his people? Those are the questions which remain unanswered. Are we willing to gamble our high office of commander in chief of our armed forces and a third of our government's alleged balance of power on this questionable person?

I listened to the whole thing and smoked out[/i] in this campaign. It's all political rhetoric and the only way to interpret it objectively is to understand that this is the mindset of Obama's spiritual mentor and Obama likes it well enough to subject his family to it for a long time.Back in the old Obama thread I remember citing an Obama quote from one of his senatorial campaigns when he told Wright he would need to distance himself from Wright until after the election. I don't have the time to read the thread to find it. I see this response of Obama as the same ole damage control. This man's shady affiliates and the fact that he has the most liberal socialist voting record in the Senate raises red flags all over the place. You can swallow the smooth crafty talk but I'm not buying it.Imo, Obama is being highly deceitful in trying to allege that this is unusual stuff for Wright and that it's not been going on for a long time regularly.I don't know how far back tapes can be had of Wright. It would be an interesting research if one could access them over a long period of time. Methinks they're available but one might have a hard time accessing them. Mobiogirl, I say go ahead and put Francis's words in Obama's pastor's mouth because for the most part they were true. The things Shaeffer said were relative to current events as well as true and Biblical.Wright's hate-rich-whitey America anti-Israel, pro Palestinian, and and other such diatribes by this man having close ties to Nation of Islam were either false or not relative to the current state of the nation. They were divisive and hate-fomenting speeches in a church pulpit where political speeches citing opposing election candidates were not suppose to be.Shaeffer's son who admits to opposing the views of his father has failed to present a viable analogy.

True Believer, likely nobody has taken the time to listen to all those ranting messages from way back. That would be quite a feat, very time consuming and likely very depressing. There are more than 30 seconds of stuff out. I don't know how much it would all come to. I know I've heard & seen video of him chastising America for supporting terrorism on the Palestinians, clearly implicating Israel. Mobiogirl has missed that and likely you too. I wonder how many of you saw the clip where Wright alleges that Jesus was a "poor black boy" who was persecuted by the white Romans?Wright's Afrocentrism is quite evident given the above and given his close cozy ties with the Nation of Islam Afrocentrists who's constituency, btw, is huge and growing in America. This is likely where much of Obama's early support came from.If Barack becomes president, likely he will be beholden to many of his Afrocentrist supporters with appointments and various paybacks.

My point was that socialists agree with the Wright contention that the rich are the source of America's problems.Wright, the Afrocentrist and most socialists would agree that the rich capitalists are the source of America's problems. Both advocate government solutions to effect economic equality rather than free enterprise, work ethic and assumption of personal responsibility for achievement.Their agenda is to absolve the poor, the criminal element and the under-achievers of personal responsibility, to discourage private enterprise, diminish personal freedom and to empower government to enforce racial, economic and social parity.
