I have always been intrigued by Cricket. But living in the states I have never had a chance to watch it. They do offer it on satellite but they want ridiculous amount.
I did get to watch some while I was in South Africa in April. It is an amazing game. I would love to learn more and watch more. Maybe I need to pop for the price DirecTV wants.

Re: My take on American Football
I think it is very important that everyone takes anything said by a Packer backer with a huge grain of salt. He may have facts straight, but they are all known to have problems when it comes to opinions and football.
I may live in Wisconsin and I am married to a Packer fan, but I am originally from Massachusetts and my loyalties are still with the Patriots and in baseball I am a Red Sox fanatic.

Re: The Ashes Returns
I go to South Africa every year for a week or so and I watch cricket while I am there. It is all very confusing to figure out by myself. I have bought a couple books to help me figure it out. I am enthralled with the game.
Unfortunately, it is not readily available to watch in the US. Directv offers a package, but it is very expensive and not knowing much about the game I am not sure what I would be buying.
The Ashes is not available at all. Currently Directv does not offer any cricket. Maybe I will feel adventurous and pay to watch some matches this next year.

Re: The Ashes Returns
I think if you find the live match baffling I suspect the radio commentary will seem like an alien language!!!!
Oh yes my first introduction to cricket was 25-20 years ago listening to the BBC on shortwave. Just the scoring summaries alone were enough to make my head swim.

Re: The Ashes Returns
As every gentleman knows, a googly should be hunted with hounds.
Well in Wisconsin the only thing you can hunt with hounds is bear(hardly seems sporting to me)
And I sir, am no gentleman.

Re: Draws
If I ever win the lottery I am going to build a cricket facility here in the middle of nowhere Wisconsin. Kind of a "Field of Dreams" for cricket. I go to South Africa ever year or two and I am just mesmerized by cricket. I have tried to watched few matches and have bought a book that is basically "Cricket for Dummies" I find the sport absolutely mesmerizing.

Re: Draws
I already have the 300 acre spot picked out. Part of my wife's grandfather's old farm(family doesn't own it anymore). It is up near Superior, could get some of the Duluth tourist crowd I guess. But a "field of Dreams" needs to be a destination spot. A place people pursue not go to ad an afterthought.
But need to start buying those lottery tickets fist.

Re: Cricket, pudding, bangers & mash
(I love me a good brat! Beer boiled with onions and a little butter, then grilled to perfection
Not tell you how to cook a brat but try this next time. Cook it on the grill first. Not too hot a temp because you do not want it to split. After it has started to cook through a little and you have nice grill marks, then boil it in the beer.
I have found this is the most delicious way to prepare brats. A good brat is also necessary and the brats from Louie's are the best.
Louie Jr. is a great guy and the Sausage stuffer there is a good friend.

Mashed potatoes and Sausages were an occasional thing in my family. Probably because my grandmother was Canadian.

Re: It just isn't Cricket
This is going down as one of the great series of all time. I am a huge baseball fan and a huge Red Sox fan.
Now Victorino and Stephen Drew are hitting. Things are looking good.
