Re: Everyone has their own god.
Sorry but it is also fact.
The God you market is evil and without any redeeming qualities.
If it does turn out to be real, the only honorable course would be to oppose it.

Once again your post is simply totally unrelated to what I said.
Nice try but no, I don't play rabbit holes.

Re: Do Jews, Muslims and Christians Worship Different Gods?
Yes and no.
The God of all three is the God of Abraham and Isaac.
But individuals create there own god that they worship.
And it is highly unlikely that either the God or god is GOD.

Re: Everyone has their own god.
Not really.
Genocide is always morally wrong.
See?
It really is that simple.

Morally.
If the God you market is amoral, that still does not effect my judgement of that God.
It is possible that the God you market might be judged to just be psychotic; just another psychopath. Then I would favor giving it help, but as long as it behaves immorally it should be kept away from decent folk.
The God you market has been weighed and found wanting. Mene Mene Tekel Upharsin.

The man has become like one of us, to know good and evil.
I know good and evil.
It's not simplistic.
Any God that is so limited that it must resort to Genocide is simply not worthy of my respect or worship and is one that I must oppose.

Re: Everyone has their own god.
The case for your position is actually laid out in the Bible. In the end of the Genesis fable the god character says: " 22And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil".
The Bible says you have the knowledge to judge right from wrong and the charge to do so.

Re: Everyone has their own god.
Not exactly.
The God character expels them from the Garden of Eden because the God character fears they will eat from the Tree of Life and become immortal.

According to that story, yes, it would have made us Gods.
AbE: but no, according to the story we could not have both.

Re: Everyone has their own god.
That's correct, you do not need a god to tell you what to think about genocide.
The reason to consider the story is that iano is making claims based on the collection of stories and this particular story says that you yourself have the capability to know right from wrong and even can see when God is wrong.
The great gift in the Garden of Eden story is that god is not needed at all when it comes to morality, man has the same capabilities as god in determining when something is right or wrong.
Something is not right or wrong because God says it is right or wrong, but because man knows it is right or wrong and the Bible tells me so.

Re: Understanding Different Dispensations
Buz writes:
No. What I am saying is that God sanctioned genocide on pagan cultures to cleanse a tiny portion of land upon which Jehovah, for himself of whom idolatrous cultures rival, could establish a nation which is to be his messianic kingdom on planet earth to come into fruition in our end times which we observe, i.e. the phenomenal restoration of the nation of Israel after having been scattered globally for 19 plus centuries.
Then that god has been weighed and found wanting, unworthy of either worship or respect and should be opposed by any moral individual.

Man's charge and duty.
The examples of moral questions that you gave (robbing a person, failure to return lost wealth) are rather simple; when you get into the more difficult questions, that's where you see people's ideas for what a moral god would want begin to vary.
Unfortunately, these are all some of the most important moral questions we can typically have since they tend to involve life and death consequences.
Of course, and our duty as a human is to decide whether what is being alleged to be the will of God stands up to our innate knowledge of right and wrong. As the Bible says, when the God is acting immorally the moral human stands up and rebukes those actions.

Re: God does not give morality. God does not give life.
If Jesus was God-Man while living among us then the whole thing is just a worthless farce and of no significance or value to human beings.
If that is what you worship then I have no use for or see any value in that god.
