Would a catholic conservative be seen taking up Britain's corruption of the Balfour, which happens to be the worst Post-W.W.II crime today? This is of course absent in the Tea Party's radar, which says Britain enjoys an immunity of the gravest of crimes. Sorry, I don't understand the question. What do you mean?

This is not a hypothetical question. Some public fire departments already refuse to spray water on your house if you haven't paid your bill. Indeed - and this instance caused no small amount of outrage because of the risk to life and property, and because it's easy enough to just save the damned house and issue a judgement against the family to pay their bill plus penalty fees.

America, though one of the greatest nations in history, nonetheless defaults here. The premise of capitalism rests on sub-clauses which cannot be flaunted, namely the welfare of society with the poor, aged and sick - these have to be accounted for in all cases. The rate of taxes must cater to the welfare of these sectors, otherwise you end up with a bad society and culture.
The onus of welfare is well advocated in writings of the Hebrew bible as mandatory, such as half shekel cumpulsory taxes and thanksgiving sacrifices - these are for the less fortunate in the society. America has failed in this instant. Greed is not good, Gordan Greko; giving is good.

You really can't pull your head out of your "hebrew bible" for two seconds to have an adult conversation, can you?

The tea party is a one-eyed jack in as much as it condones the corruption of the Balfour and accounts a 3-state as a 2-state and muslims as Palestinians - these are covert genocidal factors candy coated as rightious. It also stains all catholics who turn cheeks on such crimes against Israel.

Are you talking about the Balfour Declaration?
Are you saying that the Balfour Declaration was corrupt or that the Balfour Declaration was corrupted by Britain and that is somehow a crime? Do you have any idea what the Balfour Declaration really is? Are you familiar with the McMahon-Hussein Correspondence? Do you know when WWII happened?Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

You need reminding of its pervasive impact and the runaway factor from confronting truths today. You cannot say it does not impact!

Absolutely that is what I am saying - it is the singular greatest Post-W.W.II crime of all, and remains a shrouded continuance of European Nazism. It merits a new thread.

Rahvin writes: Somehow Canada and the rest of the First World manage to be profitable markets for the pharmaceutical industry while simultaneously guaranteeing coverage, usually single-payer, to every citizen. If I lived a little farther north, past an arbitrary line, I wouldn't even need to pay a copay for a doctor's appointment or prescription medication...and yet the Canadian market is still profitable enough that pharmaceutical companies still sell them drugs. Hi Rahvin Just a couple of thoughts on this as a life long Canadian. Our medical system isn't a utopia. If I had to choose between our system and yours I would choose ours but I think you would actually do better looking at some of the European models. One correction is that prescription drugs aren't covered in most cases by our Medicare system. We need private coverage for that. In addition there are fairly lengthy wait times to see specialists or to get surgery. On balance though, eventually everyone does get health care but it isn't equal. I'm retired so I don't get the same quality of care that I would have gotten previously. If I had a health issue prior to retirement it cost the company money. The company doctor would make a phone call and I would get an appointment right away. Can't do that now. Prison inmates get more rapid attention than I do. So do Members of parliament, the military and those who have friends in high places do as well. I think that there is probably a happy medium between our two countries. Canada has to deal with our health costs to which are a huge percentage of government expenditures and the costs are rapidly increasing without even taking into account the aging of the population which is going to have a massive impact. So yes, I prefer our system but it isn't all that you seem to think it is.Everybody is entitled to my opinion.

The US has it even worse. The US Government already pays out as much per capita as Canada, and that is just to cover Medicare. It doesn't even cover the rest of the population. Overall per capita spending (including private dollars) on health care is about double what you guys pay, and that doesn't even cover everyone (the uninsured are left out of this equation). For profit health care has resulted in a doubling of the cost, the exact opposite of what Republicans/TPer's claim should happen in a free market system. What TPer's fail to understand is that a for profit system has no reason to reduce costs so that it is affordable for everyone. They have every incentive to increase their charges to increase profits. To use an analogy, Mercedes-Benz sees no reason to reduce the cost of their cars so that lower income families can afford them.

But how much more money do we spend on research and other advances to medicine that the Canadians can just piggy-back off of? Is it really an apples-to-apples comparison?

It is generally considered by virtually all parties that as things stand the costs aren't sustainable for the long term, but politically dealing with the problem is a quagmire.
I know our costs are lower than yours which but one side effect of the government controlling the costs is that we lose doctors and nurses to the US where they can make more money and we have a doctor shortage in this country. I think that one mistake we make is in the delivery system is nearly all public. I do like the idea that the insurance aspect of it is public so that all are covered but I think it is a mistake that the delivery is public as well. I find it difficult to accept in a democratic system that with a few exceptions private delivery isn't allowed. What happens a lot is that people with money go down to your country to obtain health care. As said I prefer our system but the status quo isn't an option long term in either of our countries.Everybody is entitled to my opinion.
