I think its fine to send proffesional athletes to compete in basketball, since most of the other nations have been doing it for decades. Most of europe now has a competant basketball leauge, and most of them do compete for their home teams. It seems strange to want to restrict the US but no one else. I would rather watch the best compete than just send someone to show up and lose "gracefully".
