I've just released a few minor enhancements for Private Messaging:

This is an easy fix, I'll probably get to it tonight.

This should be fixed, but I only had time for superficial testing. Please let me know if you encounter any further problems.

Panda writes: I think you are agreeing with my suggestion, but I am not sure - so just in case:The difference between inclusive and exclusive is simply size. (i.e. If the exclusive list is larger than the inclusive list then you make the list inclusive). If you wish to allow everyone, you change the list to 'exclusive' and leave it empty. Yes, you've got it. What you said before didn't sound like this, sounded like you wanted a complete member list with an include/exclude setting for each member.
...if you are going to include groups, then you will need two lists so that you can include GroupA but exclude MemberB (who is a member of GroupA). Yes, this is true.
Normally, when someone suggests giving that much flexibility to users I would expect stupid or abusive behaviour. e.g. Quickly joining a creationist group so that they can post abuse in a 'creationist only' thread or not joining any groups and then not understanding why they can't post in many threads. Good point.

This is a good idea, I'll put it on the todo list. I probably wouldn't do a folder of bookmarks, but instead add a dropdown menu on each thread page with the member's bookmarks. The top item would be bookmarks for the current thread, and if has bookmarks for other threads they would come later, and you could have optional notes, e.g.:
Thread Bookmarks Memories of Pangaea (Current Thread) Message 7 Message 19 (have to research this one) The Eyes Have it Message 21 Message 237 (includes good reference for eye anatomy) Message 283 Should also be possible to include bookmarks for any page, not just thread pages.

Hi Panda,
I'm hoping to do more with it then just bookmarks, though I think even just bookmarks would be very useful. I wouldn't like cluttering up my main bookmark list with a bunch of bookmarks specific to EvC Forum. While you can organize your bookmarks hierarchically in any browser, no browser makes this very easy, and there would be no organizing by thread or forum or other possible keys. Organizing bookmarks hierarchically is a dreary exercise. But beyond organization, imagine the utility of being able to read a message then click on a little link next to it that added it to your EvC Forum bookmarks, all organized by forum and thread. Another click and the bookmark is removed. If a portion of your bookmarks were organized like this:
The Eyes Have it Message 21 Message 237 (includes good reference for eye anatomy) Message 283 Imagine being able to click on The Eyes Have it and having displayed a page with just those messages. I'm sure there are other possibilities. Of course, I won't be getting to this anytime soon.

All the spammers messages are deleted, so I need to know which threads you've discovered were affected.

Jar and Nwr,
Thanks for the info, problem is fixed. The algorithm for determining the oldest unread message already handled the case where it was missing (deleted), but the MySQL query was erroneously including both deleted and normal messages (deleted messages aren't actually deleted, they're just marked with a delete flag - actual removal from the database requires an expunge). The message display code *does* check the deleted flag and issues the message when it is handed a message with that flag. I regret I can't test better, but I've written more code than I can test. This kind of help is really valuable, so thanks again.

Thanks for the detailed information, that gives us a real head start. The problem is a bit unusual because it concerns something that has been basic and fundamental to Javascript for a long time. The "style" field of displayed HTML objects has been there since almost the beginning, and the error is saying that the "style" field for a basic "div" object does not exist. I don't see how that could happen.
Many links on EvC webpages bring up a hoverbox of information when you hover over them. What happens when you hover over other links, such as members' names or the message links like the "Message 324" that you see at the top of bottom of this message. Do you get the same error? Have you tried shutting down and restarting IE? Or rebooting? --Percy

Hi RAZD!
Thanks for reporting this. I think it should should only extend to the end of your message, which means the end of the current table cell. This is already on the list (for blockquote, not strike, but it's the same issue), but there is no specific schedule at this time.

You're on Eastern Time, right? Then you should see 11:35 PM as the time of your message, and 12:01 AM the following day as the time of your edit. Are you seeing something different?

Dogmafood writes: That is what I am seeing now. Perhaps Moose's explanation is correct although I thought that I was looking at it in recent topics and not on the edit page. I think that must be it, that the edit page has it wrong for those using "Discussion Board Time" instead of the local time of their computer. It's a bug, I've added it to the list.

Your wish is my command (who'da thought!).
You now have to include "center" to have it centered - the default is left. Let me know if you find any problems. --Percy

When you do this:
<b>bold</i>, not bold Then you haven't closed the bold tag, so everything will be bold, like this:
bold, not bold

Oh, yes, I see your point now. Yes, there could be better encapsulation. A new version of the software will be coming out (not sure when) where making this change would make the most sense. I'll put this on the todo list.
