Author | Topic: how can any one religion make a valid claim to be the fundamental truth? | |||||||||||||||||||||||

To the law and to the testimony, if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. Isaiah 8:20
Then I would conclude that it is imperative to learn the word and what it actually means, not what you think it means, and not what you want it to mean. There is much of that going around. For instance:The soul that sins it shall die Ezekiel 18:20 vs Immortal soul (not in the Bible) and God only has immortality 1 Timothy 6:13-l 6: .......the Kings of kings, and Lord of lords; who only hath immortality........ So you see, that is the problem with all those religions - meaning Christianity. They just happily go along with traditional beliefs, which is vanity. Matthew 15:9 {But in vain they do worship me, teaching [for] doctrines the commandments of men.}Mark 7:7 {Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching [for] doctrines the commandments of men.} etc.

The word would have to be the Bible.
The conclusions reached must be by scripture compared with scripture. Black must stay black, etc. And God forbid, one should run with a single thought and not consider the entire plot. That would ruin any book, not just the Bible.

Which Bible do the witnesses use to spread their message?

These people have nothing to do with religion. They are a financial enterprise, it's how they make their living and a very good one. They know exactly what to say to instill fear in those they touch. Send money and you won't go to hell. It's an old practice.
They have their reward.

A good summary of what is wrong with them.
But religion? Nah! This message has been edited by PecosGeorge, 01-14-2005 08:26 AM

Ideas?
It would seem if the interpretation is inaccurate, their 'ideas' invalidate themselves. Adding or taking away from what it says, injecting tradition that does not belong, invalidates.

The Bible contains the fundamental truth.
It's people who run with it any which way they please.

I bet it is ok with him for you to believe as you have chosen. Whether you believe HIS God exists means only that YOU don't believe.
Do you offer this for proof true? You cannot, because you don't really know, but only believe he doesn't, which is your God-given right.

Thank you.
The reason I asked is that I did learn some time ago that Jehova Witnesses translated the bible to conform it to what they think it should say to meet their doctrinal needs. In this they rival the Church of the Latter Day Saints, ignoring the directive that nothing should be added or taken from scripture. So, that would be a puzzlement.

I responded to your statement that you think there is not God.

-------Search the scriptures objectively and you will then have your eyes opened to it's uniqueness and worth as reliable foundational truth.-----------
You are heaping too much on those plates, Buz.Truth is subjective, in the eyes of the beholder. Many are called, and even from those, few are chosen. I also like the prophecies, and those you mention, have stunning value.

How is it the same?
Have you inspected and compared the interpretations both churches rendered to suit their need?

Duh?
What is 'duh'? I know what is 'Du', but what is 'duh'? Duh sounds like a primal grunt. A man of the forest would make a sound like that. Am I right? I love to learn new things like that.
