Re: The truth
quote:
Answer a few questions here, start them with If there was a God:
quote:
1: Would he want us to judge others?
No.
quote:
2: Would he want us to love others, as we love our self?
I guess so.
quote:
3: If he gave us earth, would he want us to take care of it?
I would guess so.
quote:
4: Would he want us to love him, as he loves us?
Well he would if he was a bit needy, a bit demanding. Naw if God existed he couldn't be so petty and small.
quote:
5: Would he want us to worship the creator, or the creation?
Well if he had an ego-problem maybe him. Again I can't see an almighty being being so small-minded and needy.
quote:
6: Would we bear the sins of our fore-fathers? (think about this one, even scientifically if you have to)
No - not at all. Only a nutcase would expect you to pay for the mistakes of others, many born 1000s of years before you were born. No only an evil god would expect this.
quote:
7: Would God want you to kill people in his name?
Dunno - I guess he nevers asks people to kill others in the bible.
quote:
8: Would God promise you 40 virgins for suicide bombing a bunch of innocent people? (sorry I couldn't resist that one, it was wrong of me)
Dunno - isn't the ways of god suppose to beyond the rest of us? Maybe there is a purpose there we can't see?
If it was so wrong of you, why did you leave it in and not delete it. You show yourself for what you are once again.

Well your going to have to prove that one, because it happens, and it is very obvious to me why. If you would like I can start another topic on that one.
Prove what? you asked a question and I answered it. "because it happen" makes no sense within the context of the question that you posed.

Re: The truth
Prove what didn't happen? You asked a question, I answered it and now you seemed to be grafting a qualification onto it because you didn't ask that answer.
You asked for people's views and I gave it - no proof required.

But again this is just your own take on it - a Muslim would say the same thing about their holy book (and they do, take a google).

Whether you believe HIS God exists means only that YOU don't believe.
Well...duh!

Do you offer this for proof true? You cannot, because you don't really know, but only believe he doesn't, which is your God-given right.
offer what? he asked for my VIEWPOINT - are you actually reading those posts?

Re: Bible
And how does that answer his question? What do your experiences have to do with an objective academic study?

Re: Biblical History
Isn't his work on the place of the bible in history? He starts from a postion that the bible is true and correct doesn't he?
How is that objective?

Re: Bible
Again - this is a dodge - what does me reading the bible have to do with an objective academic study?
Anyway I've read the bible - I was a christian as a child.

Re: The truth
I have a flick now and again - I'm looking at the Koran at the moment as I'm interested to see what they have to say. It seems to be a better read than the bible.

Re: The truth

You seem to have a lot of misconceptions about the Christian bible (unless some of the things you say in here are just trying to stir crap). Have you ever tried to study it on your own? Did someone or school teach you?
A mixture of self-study, sunday school and talking to the church leader. I look at it again now and again but the more I read it the more convinced I am that it is untrue (large elements are clearly rubbish from a scientific point of view). Indeed all of the interactions with christians on here only strenghts that's idea.

Re: The truth
quote:
Might I suggest that you look for God with your Spirit, and not your mind. Pray to him when you read his word and ask that you inderstand it. Also when you pray to God, take some time out to hear a response. Listen. One of the ways he talks is in a small still voice. Usually it is the first thought that enters your mind after asking a question.
No I'm sorry it's too late for that, to me your christian godhead occupies the same space as zeus, thor etc. I don't believe in the spirit or the soul either.

Re: Easy answer.
I see what you are saying - Allah is the one true god.
Strange claim from a christian but I guess it takes all sorts.
