You see, I don't believe that GOD condemns anyone over something so silly as books in the Bible.
If we have believed in Christ as Lord and savior then we are not condemned. End of story. How do I know? God promised us this and he doesn't break his promises.
If we have never had the opportunity to make this decision... I'm not so sure what happens, but I would tend to think we are not condemned.
You are right. God is not petty. Perhaps thats another reason we are not to get into petty arguments like this. He simply wants us to love and obey him and not argue with each other about him.
You see, the words of Jesus were always inclusive. He did not ask the Centurion what his belief system was. He simply acted.
He acted because the centurion believed Jesus could heal him, not because the centurion believed Apollos could heal him. I think its clear what the centurion's belief system was from that point on: Christ is Lord.
Aside from morality (Laws of Divine Establishment) I think theology is the main focus of Christianity. We always want to know God more. The more we know him the more we can love him.
IMHO, you place far too much emphasis, as did the elders of the Temple, on the show of piety. GOD on the otherhand, will look at the actions of the people. If they tried their best, even if they denied the very existence of GOD, it really won't matter.
Whoa... IMHO this is blasphemy.

If you want to know GOD better, but the Bible aside and talk to him. Invite him over for beer and pretzels. He's a party kinda guy and would enjoy that.

I didn't refuse to answer as you know. I refused to grant a concession. Why don't you refute from the OP how the concession that you gave yourself shoots down my airplane.
This quote of yours that I cut and pasted is a bare dogmatic opinion - an indigenous trait of fundementalism.
WT, be honest. You ARE refusing to answer my question. Are you admitting that answering my question correctly would nessitate a concession on your part? If not, why then don't you answer my question?
I'll restate my question to make it simple. True or False? The word fundamentalist is derived from the word fundamental.

No Jar. That's not the way it works with the supreme god, Jehovah. You pick up his book, the Bible and let him talk to you, instruct you and direct you. Then you begin to, I say begin to become wise and knowledgeable about things like origins, how to function well in the here and now and what will be in the future.

but the Bible aside
Jar, I'm starting to wonder about you... more specifically who it is you're talking to.
You are now the third person I know who has told me they "talk to God" and God talks back, and your views are completely opposite theirs.
Who should I trust?
Sorry, I think I will stick to my Bible.

Where does God make this promise in the Bible?

Hi Buzsaw:
First, I want to acknowledge your status on this board as one of the top five creos. I respect and admire your knowledge. The EvC Forum is seeing the best debate on-going in the Exodus topics as you and Brian slug it out.
As to your question:
quote:
True or False? The word fundamentalist is derived from the word fundamental.
I honestly do not know. I suppose I could find out but I haven't.
If you say that it is derived from "fundamental" then this would be obvious and basically invulnerable. For the sake of argument I will accept your question/point to be rhetorical.
I believe I know what you are trying to establish/do. Be careful, because word meanings are three-fold: Actual, reportive, and emotive.
sincerely,
WT

Naughty Willowtree!
It seems that you have committed a whole host of errors, first off, Jehovah's Witnesses are not fundamentalists. I explained the Law of the Christ or the New Covenant to you at http://EvC Forum: What is a True Christian? -->EvC Forum: What is a True Christian? message 135 and I am still waiting for your reply, could you please use the response button so I can more easily find your answer. Not answering and running off in another thread and claiming victory is very naughty of you.

Hi WmScott:
You are a fundementalist and the OP clearly says why. You need to REFUTE from the OP or lick your wounds elsewhere.
There is one and only one definition of what a true christian is: GALATIANS 2:20:
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
No if's and's or but's attached - this is what makes a christian a christian.
What makes Jehovahs Witnessess fundemenatlists is the fact that you plainly declare a list of "denominational" code of conduct that in essence says the conformity to these things proves you are a christian.
The truth is we are supposed to live our convictions but preach Christ - period. The established church world of today, the Fundemantalists, of which Jehovah's Witnessess are a part, clearly send the message that their pet view of Moses law (whatever that is) proves a true christian. The essence of true christianity is the indwelt placement of the Spirit which comes by faith, continues to remain by faith, and will take you home IF you finish by faith - that is the gospel - the good news from God which is a righteousness that has nothing to do with Moses law. (Romans 3:21,22)
