Re: Mary Mary Quite Contrarian

I mean, I know some Catholics who think that Mary was a virgin all of her life.
I was raised a Roman Catholic and attended 12 years of catechism and I never once heard anyone claim that Mary was a virgin her whole life.

Re: Nearer My God to Thee

Various protestants are not on the same page, but there are major doctrinal differences which define them as being protestants in general.
It's my understanding that there are very few things that ALL Protestants differ with Roman Catholicism on.
The only one I certainly know of is that they do not recognize the Pope.

Re: Back on topic
Catholicism rejects pluralism of any discription
quote:
Really. Then why have Popes sat down with leaders of other faiths? Why has the Roman Catholic Church been in discussions with the Anglican Communion for over a decade?
Yes, and didn't the current Pope just go to Turkey to meet with Muslim religious leaders and actually pray in a mosque while visiting it?
That would seem to be recognizing that Muslims and Catholics worship the same god.

Re: Back on topic

The Pope may pray wherever he likes, as can we.
The fact that the Pope prayed in a mosque at the same time as the Muslims around him were praying is, in fact, a very strong indication that he was joining them in prayer. That is the simplest explanation.
It is simply willful blindness to rationalize his action away just because you don't like what he did.

Evangelicals are a very large segment of Christianity, likely the majority, but not sure about that.
No, Roman Catholics are the largest sect of Christianity, worldwide.

Were not talking about mere symbology here, we are speaking about these relics giving some sort of mystical power to the possessors.
You mean like that "prayer cloth" that I was sent by the local fundie church?
