What is this 'G-d' rather than God and 'L-rd' rather than Lord stuff about?
Ancient Hebrew, the written language that the Old Testament was originally written in, had no vowels. They only had consonents, which have made it very very difficult for modern scholars to translate the origial texts. This is the main reason why the Jews never ever say God's supposed name "YHWY," because they do not know how it is supposed to sound.
Anyway, I just think that somebody in the past tried to imitate Ancient Hebrew, thinking that it will make him holier, and others just followed.

Sure, there is a great deal of evidence which points to the earth being 4.5 billion years old, but there is no way to say that God didn't make it that way.
Ok, so are you telling us that we are dealing with a God that created false evidence for us to find and condemn us to hell because we decided to use the human intellect and curiosity that he supposedly gave us?
This sounds too much to me like the chinese method of interrogation where they present the prisoner with 3 lights and demand that the prisoner say there are 4 lights. The point of this is to break the prisoner's will.
What an unjust entity your God is.

I am also saying that i believe the earth to be about 10 thousand years old because there is also a great deal of evidence pointing to that. For example: the earth's rotation has been slowly slowing down. Calculate it out, and if the earth were the billions of years old u say it is, then the earth would be rotating fast enought to easily be throwing all life, and large chucks of top soil into space.
Example 2: the moon has slowly been drawing farther and farther from the earth. calculate it, and 4.5 billion years ago it would have been smack dab in the core.
Please stop misrepresenting science like this. Speaking as a physics major and someone that have done these calculations before, it really hurts me to see someone as ignorant as you on these subjects trying to use such examples that you pulled out of your arse to support your beliefs. Since this is a relgious section, I will not be arguing with you on these examples that you pointed out.
Peace.

So now you have a physics major? in post #37 of "missing links" in the evolution forum, you said you had a biology major. which is it? Or do you have both? And how am i mesrepresenting science? As far as i know, i was right about the calculations. If im not, please, show me the math.
Read that post again. I said I USED to be a biology major. To be more precise, I used to be a pre-med. I just fell in love with physics and changed my mind.

Refer to the thread you started in cosmology for the math stuff. It's relatively simple. Anyone who have taken geometry could calculate this stuff.

The point I was trying to make is that if the Rockefellers have their name or money invested in something, you can pretty much guarantee that they have some influence there. I don't think science would be an exception. In all honesty I have not done any real research as to how deep their influence is in the scientific community, I am now inspired to do so.
Please do go and do some research. That is a very serious accusation. I've spent some time in the past working in genetic research, and I can tell you that there was no political influence to the veracity of our findings. But if you want to believe in something you have no idea about, then I guess I can't really do anything.

But apparently, I am so frightened of science that I allow myself to work in the field just so I can get myself on fear factor. Don't go making rash and un-educated statements about someone you don't even know. The only reason I put you in my post is because I had read how much you took issue with young earth creationists.
That freaks me out more than anything you've said. So far, every scientific theory you've tried to use to support young Earth creationism have been shot down by people on these forums, including that second law of thermodynamics you posted in my thread that showed you had absolutely no idea how to apply the law regarding entropy. Yet, you claim to work in the field of science.

I've had sleep paralysis also. Actually, it's somewhat common now for me. The first few times, it was scary as hell. Now, it's somewhat annoying, knowing full well during the paralysis that I can't move even though I wanted to. And it still feel like it lasts forever.

Re: Somewhat confusing to me
Agreed with Ned completely.
These forums are for debates about specific details regarding evolution and other topics surrounding that. No one person can write an entire college course (or high school course) worth of information on this forum. If anyone want to find out more about evolution or want to see more evidence, take a class about it or read some books.
In another forum, I was asked why I thought morality could exist without the presence or existence of a God. I was like WTF! I can't sipmly write everything I learned in my philosophy of ethics class in on that forum. If she really want to learn why people say that morality can exist without God, she should have read some books about it or take a class about it. I even gave her the names of the moral theories out there for her to start looking.

I wouldn't worry too much about getting off topic either, this thread had been all over the place. I'm not really too sure what the topic is anymore.
The topic started as a question to why christians try to use the scientific method to prove God. Then some people responded with the classic "why not?" Overall, it had been staying in the general field of God versus science. Then, on page 12 you guys somehow made a jump to patriotism and the war in Iraq.
Please stay on subject.

That's ok. I'd rather be nothing than serve in heaven. Sounds too boring to me.
