Oops. I just realized that vestigial organs is off-topic here. I won't bother to reply to any responses to this post. Sorry.
Wow, beaten to the punch! Thanks!

Re: this about sums up the evo argument
I think Evopeach was already a bit off-topic, and this post probably takes it even further off course.

Re: this about sums up the evo argument
As long as I'm responding I should issue a "thank you" for your recent contructive contributions to this thread. I wanted to address this:

That in direct conflict with the self serving posts herein claiming some intellectual indisputable victory and subsequent cynical remarks.
If it can be relied upon that your own tendencies in this regard are no longer a concern, then I don't see any problem with moderators holding everyone else to the same standards. It's only when one or more members begin posting in, shall we call it, an extravagant fashion that skirts the boundaries of the Forum Guidelines that fairness becomes an obstacle to even-handed enforcement. It might not seem it sometimes, but we're reluctant to suspend, and for as long as someone is disrarding the Forum Guidelines the moderators find it difficult to caution other members when they begin replying in kind.

This is how threads spiral out of control.
Throwing in occasional stuff like this isn't usually considered a problem worth a moderator's time. As the frequency increases it becomes more likely that moderators will take notice. When this type of posting happens too often then warnings and suspensions usually occur. The safest course is to follow the Forum Guidelines and stick to the facts.

Randman is restricted from participating in the science forums at present. The replies to Randman's last post highlight one of the reasons for restricting him. As these replies indicate, the discussion has gone over all this ground about transitionals before, not once but many times. But to Randman it's as if the topic has been raised for the very first time. Instead of building on what came before, Randman is given to ignoring the history of most discussions and simply restating his original position.
I think we all understand Randman's positions on the issues very well by now, so unless he can demonstrate the ability to avoid extremely repetitive Alzheimer's type discussions (or 50 First Dates) in the threads where he still has privileges, this moderator isn't inclined to restore his science privileges anytime soon.
