Re: This goes in the "Are you fucking serious?" file
Mohler said he objects to "the idea that the body is a vehicle for reaching consciousness with the divine."
I guess he's unaware of his faith's long record of mortification of the flesh in pursuit of visions.
Or maybe he thinks it's okay to reach the divine through pain, but not through pleasure or even absence of pain, since many people take up yoga to combat chronic pain.
Oh those kinky Southern Baptists. Fortunately, and unsurprisingly, their women are low hanging fruit.
Of course, he's merely responding to a significant threat. Let everyone start feeling good about their bodies while seeking clarity of mind, and Xianity would wither away.

This might not seem funny...

Not that there's anything wrong with that...
Seems a damn shame, though. The killjoys have killed a lot of joy.

Re: Ageist hat on
When I was stationed in 1970s Asia, those cards were used to track controlled purchases from the PX/Commissary system in an effort to restrain the black market: when you rotated stateside, you had to account for all the stereos, VCRs, etc., that you purchased in-country.
My buddy fed the cards into the computer that tracked purchases.
Life was good.
