There is a great tale that covers that perfectly. During the early phases of D-Day there was a German tank covering the exit road from a town. As an American tank turned the corner it would send a single shot which blew up the American tank. Again and again and again this happened. Eventually though he ran out of ammunition before the US ran out of tanks and so abandoned his position.

Remember Faith, I live along the border and often deal personally with Border Patrol Agents. In fact quite a few of the shoot at the same range I use and even get leather work done by the same old shoemaker I use.
None of the folk I know that actually have their feet on the ground and deal with the actual patrolling favor the utterly stupid fence. What they favor is more automated surveillance, more horses, more atvs and more medical and other aid for the immigrants. They favor stopping the Coyotes, not their clients, more and improved crossings, more staff to get folk across legally, more lanes for traffic and more manpower.

Well, it's not clear and there is no evidence that a wall would be effective.
What is needed is to fix immigration laws, find ways to HELP the immigrants and increase the access through the gateways. Get more in and welcome them.

It is always legal until after the individual has had full due process.

No, since only a court of law can make that determination.
What we need is not a wall but rather more access and welcome centers.

Faith writes: What we need is less access for criminals, drug cartels, human traffickers, those who rape women on the trek north and the like, and a way to permanently deport those who have committed rapes and murders while inh the country illegally, who get deported only to return and repeat their crimes. We have that. It is called our courts system.
Faith writes: We need a LOT LESS access for those and welcome centers will not accomplish that. Walls could help, along with all the other methods of keeping people out that are suggested. So you assert yet never provide any evidence. The evidence shows that immigrants, those that get on US soil by ANY means, are as honest, trustworthy and reasonable as ANY US Citizen. Further they are less likely to commit crimes once they are here than the general US citizenry.

The way Ellis Island did it was as a Welcome Center. Folk were provided with a health checkup and if they were found to have a contagious disease provided with hospital care. Others were asked a few questions and then simply admitted.
Ellis Island is a good example of what we should do today; welcome folk, make sure they are health including providing necessary medical treatments and then let them join the general population. We are supposedly a nation that functions under the rule of law. If you actually read what is written in our governing documents you will find that certain basic rights apply to anyone within the Jurisdiction of the US. One absolutely basic right is that a person is considered innocent unless first charged with a crime and then adjudged to be guilty by a court and with legal council. This is different than in other nations and one of the somewhat unique characteristics of the historic United State of America. In the US someone must be judged guilty and no one is presumed guilty. A person does not have to prove they are innocent; that is the default position. It does not matter if the person is a citizen or non-citizen; the same rules apply. The person is presumed innocent. The idea of a wall is simply brain dead stupid.

Faith writes: And we aren't the United Nations so why should our laws apply to foreigners who are not qualified to be citizens? Because that is how our laws and Constitution are written and our historical legal system has mostly worked. Granted bigotry and denial of the rule of law has also been a common feature of the United States.

Faith writes: I'd just say that it's all too easy to confuse sinning humanity with an evil ideology. We need to hate the evil ideology with all the strength we can muster, and all the understanding we can acquire about it. Do you mean the evil ideology that says that as a society we have a duty to clothe the naked, feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, protect the weak, comfort the sorrowful?

Faith writes: I mean the evil ideology that wants to destroy the most generous giving nation that ever existed, which is what the Left's policies are going to do if we don't stop them. Yet you cannot present any evidence to support that assertion while you support a political party that is actually working to destroy the rule of law, destroy social responsibility, destroy the safety net, destroy even the piss poor excuse of a health system that is available in the US.

Do you support removing limits on auto exhausts?
Do you support removing restrictions on what manufacturers can dump into our streams? Do you support telling science what areas they can explore and what areas they cannot? Shall we continue?

Yet again you offer no support and admit you are ignorant about what the current administration of il Donald is doing. Educate yourself first before claiming the left is doing anything wrong.

Anyone living in the US should care.
So the question remains. Which Administration is currently trying to

Faith writes: Trump identified a real problem and proposed real solutions which the Left has done nothing but obstruct. Where is the evidence to support any of il Donald's stupid claims?
