Welcome. You're doin good. I agree that the poles likely froze quickly and stayed frozen. I heard that tropical stuff has been found frozen in the ice near the poles, but would need to do some checking to verify if it is so.
As for some of the insects and things, Noah had years advance notice to build the ark and likely prepared some means of preserving many of these things in the ark. He also had communication with God, some of which we read about and possibly some which we are not aware of. There may have been revelation from God as to what was needed and what to do for some of these specific problems.
