WILLOWTREE writes: Fundementalism was a BRANCH of Protestantism, but now it IS Protestantism, as they, the fundemantalists, have completely taken over Protestant Christianity. Like Trixie, I believe you and Dr. Scott go way too far on this. Aslan is not a Tame Lion

The point has nothing to do with whether or not they are Protestant. And the points you are bringing up are little different than the attitude of the Fundamentalists themselves.
It really doesn't matter what you or I think GOD thinks about Fundamentalism any more than it matters what GOD thinks of your relationship or my relationship. Religion is very personal between GOD and Worshiper. Until and unless, the Worshiper tries to force their belief system on others, it is strictly between God and Man. Aslan is not a Tame Lion

No, the Bible does NOT speak for GOD. And that is the same problem that I have with Literalists, Creationists and Fundamentalists.
The Bible Does Not Speak For GOD. God speaks for God. And he speaks straight to the individual. The Map is Not the Territory. The Treasure Map is not the Treasure. Aslan is not a Tame Lion

Sure. Where is that talking about the Bible?
The WORD is God. The Bible is a guide, a map, that helps us learn to live with ouselves, with others and with GOD. But it is NOT God. it is nothing more than a Map and to treat it as though it were God is to miss everything that it teaches. If you read the chapter it goes on to say that "the Word was made Flesh". That is not some book. It is not some papers that have been vetted by committees, defined by political convenience. Take some time and look at how Jesus taught. He taught by example and through parable. When Jesus tells the story of the two houses, one built on sand, one on bedrock, does it matter if there were really two houses or if he made up the story to illustrate the point? When Jesus tells the story of the good servants, does it matter whether it is a true story, or is the important part the lesson to be learned? Aslan is not a Tame Lion

WILLOWTREE writes: This topic of mine is not concerned with persons who reject Paul because I and the fundies both accept Paul to speak for God and I then proceed to show the fundies how the Bible which they accept as the eternal word of God condemns them. And I think that about sums up the differences between how you and the fundamentalists view GOD and how many of the rest of us view GOD. You see, I don't believe that GOD condemns anyone over something so silly as books in the Bible. A GOD that gets upset over something like that would be like a human getting really pissed off because the dog brought the ball instead of the squeeky toy. GOD may hate and condemn acts, particulary against the weaker, but he certainly is not going to worry too much about issues of theology. You see, the words of Jesus were always inclusive. He did not ask the Centurion what his belief system was. He simply acted. IMHO, you place far too much emphasis, as did the elders of the Temple, on the show of piety. GOD on the otherhand, will look at the actions of the people. If they tried their best, even if they denied the very existence of GOD, it really won't matter.
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Matthew 25:40

WILLOWTREE writes: Now Jar will create a furious post trying to deflect away from his massive ignorance of religious and theological truths. WILLOWTREE, WILLOWTREE. You should know me better than that by now. Seldom do I resort to furious posts. First, about GOD and theology. Theology is the provence of us mere humans. GOD has no need to define, debate or even discuss his existence. GOD is. So instead of the furious post, let me ask a simple question. Does the existence of GOD depend on either my affirmation or denial of such existence? Aslan is not a Tame Lion

If you want to know GOD better, but the Bible aside and talk to him. Invite him over for beer and pretzels. He's a party kinda guy and would enjoy that.

Paul was most likely a closet homosexual and all of his anti homosexual rantings were simply protective coloration. Me thinks he protests too much.
Unlike Jesus who was a Party Animal, Paul would have been a downer. Peter was always getting asked back for some ribs and a beer. Throw a few more shrimp on the barbie. Aslan is not a Tame Lion

Your OP is as filled with hate as the topic is stupid.
You have started a thread that has no other purpose than to criticize and condemn others. In addition, you continually quote from the bigot Scott as a source. This thread was started to criticize others because of their beliefs. While it is acceptable to discuss differences of opinion when it comes to things like religion, it is not in good taste to make absurd statements, particularly using foul language, in the manner you do regularly. Second, you say...
The OP has a source (the Bible) and I clearly interpreted directly from it. You admit that YOU are interpreting the Bible. That is you WILLOWTREE. Not even the infamous Dr. Scott. So don't go whining to the mods for protection. You have acted as a bore and buffoon. It's time to develop a small amount of maturity and apologize to the fundamentalists that are members and to the board in general. Aslan is not a Tame Lion

since the words Fundamental, Fundamentalism and Fundamentalist do not occur in the Bible, we can saw without a doubt that God did not have ANYTHING to say about them one way or another. We can also say that Paulie was moot on the subject as were John, James, Luke, Peter, Matthew, Mark, and every other writer both known and unknown.
Unless WILLOWTREE can find at least one example of at least one of the three words, it appears that GOD is fine with them. On the otherhand, there are a few mentions about folk that take the Lord's Name in vain. Aslan is not a Tame Lion |

Matthew 25 39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. 41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: So God says Fundamentalists are fine as long as they do good works.
