I'm mostly with Buzsaw's view Message 17. I have talked with Mormons too and read the BOM and realized how the only thing Christian about it is what it takes from the Bible. Maybe it would help focus you if you read up on the history of Mormonism and its differences from Christianity -- somebody suggested an ex-Mormon website. That's a place to start I'd say.

i could suggest a "recovering christian" website or two for you, faith.
Non seq, AP, since unlike the convener of this symposium here, I DON'T "have doubt in my religion."

Re: Operative Mechanism of Faith
Truly the gospel is "foolishness to the natural man."
{EDIT to add:
1Cr 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
1Cr 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned.

...having date a mormon, i talked to a few missionaries. a lot of their philosophies lined up very well the christian beliefs i already had that didn't fit with other churches...
I'd say your approach to the Bible does fit a Mormon mindset from what I've discovered in conversation with Mormons.

Re: Operative Mechanism of Faith
Yep, and complete sense to the mindless, robotic moron.
Just curious: Do you have objective evidence that believers in the gospel are
mindless
robotic
morons?
Or do you merely impose your own prejudice that anyone who believes in it is these things by definition?
Not quite sure how to test for mindlessness though I've observed the condition in the form of illogical senseless arguments from time to time, for instance in the form of a person's imposing his prejudice on the opponent as if it were a fact.
I suppose a person might be tested for robotic behavior, insofar as it differs from mindlessness that is, by some standard that demonstrates independent thinking? There are such tests. Or perhaps an informal question and answer approach might be a start.
As for morons, I believe that can be established by IQ tests? Do you have IQ statistics for believers in the gospel of Christ to compare to, say, believers in evolution?

Re: Operative Mechanism of Faith
Im not implying anything about Faith. I am sure that she is a very intelligent lady.
Thank you, I'm sure, but then your mocking Message 47 is a non-contribution to/obfuscation of/detraction from the topic, and merely continues -- or perhaps escalates -- the trend of your earlier posts which admin already suggested were anything but constructive.
