Ah, you are a "Gap OEC" -- we could use more around here.
I mention trillions of years here because we only know the approximate age of the earth as it keeps changing as we get better methods of dating.
The current minimum age for the universe is 12.7 billion years, and pretty well matches the limit of our ability to see farther, due to various factors, one of which may be the last moment of inflation (according to the "standard model") so it is not likely that we will see evidence of an older universe.
There are also alternative theories to the standard model, one involves membranes that collide in multi-dimensional uber-universe and "we" (our universe) are on one after such a collision.
