I'd like to second Ringo.
Why accept some science, but not all?

Re: I'd like to second Ringo.
They (nobody specifically) must accept the science that is blatantly obvious, but they don't want to accept the science that conflicts with their world view.
Why that bit then?
There's lotsa science.
ICANT?
Your thoughts?

Oh, I'm sure I'll make myself at home! Tho I must confess, I hesitated to jump on this particular thread. This is my first cut-n-paste-the-good-book-literalist. In all my years haunting creo sites, this is a first for me.
One doesn't even know where to begin.
Seems he has some splainin to do.
So. Again. ICANT. Why this fact? Are there other facts that you choose to accept?

It's the fack, Jack.
But the idea of the earth only being 6-10k years old is false
Why do you fish this particular fact out of the morass of evidence that you have been spoonfed over the past 3 months?
What, exactly, qualifies as kosher in your handbook?

Re: It's the fack, Jack.
On the contrary.
I have read the OP.
Let's start here:
Bible=God formed man, animals, and fowl out of the dust of the earth, thus they have a common ancestor (mother earth).
Are you suggesting that common ancestry is an acceptable fact?

Re: It's the fack, Jack.
So, you accept common descent?
Or you reject common descent because it is not "proven"?

Re: extinction events
Many think this experiment shows Life could not have formed on earth as is presently believed.
Can you cite a source for this claim?

Re: extinction events
I could post the url that refutes the "evidence" in the links you've provided, but I don't think that would be helpful.
How about you present one or two pieces of this "evidence" and we can go from there.

Re: extinction events
What scientific, verifiable, proven thing of science did I reject?
In a word?
Abiogenesis.
Many think this experiment shows Life could not have formed on earth as is presently believed.

Re: source
Yes, ICANT, I am well aware that you're able to post a link.
I asked for a cite, you provided same.
Thank you.
Now I am asking you to provide one or two examples of this "evidence" so that we might discuss this "evidence" in detail.

Re: Your evidence Please
The issue being discussed would be off topic here of course so you should open another thread or add it to an appropriate abiogenesis thread.
Sounds like fun!
ICANT. You up for it?

Why, I would be happy to discuss "this new life form"!

It seems you are unwilling, or unable, to discuss abiogenesis!
Is that true, ICANT?

Re: Age of Earth
There are other scientific theories out there and it they are proven correct I will still be correct.
To quote wiki re:steady-state:
For most cosmologists, the refutation of the steady-state theory came with the discovery of the cosmic background radiation in 1965, which was predicted by the big bang theory
Steven Weinberg wrote in 1972,
The steady state model does not appear to agree with the observed dL versus z relation or with source counts ... In a sense, the disagreement is a credit to the model; alone among all cosmologies, the steady state model makes such definite predictions that it can be disproved even with the limited observational evidence at our disposal. The steady-state model is so attractive that many of its adherents still retain hope that the evidence against it will disappear as observations improve. However, if the cosmic microwave background radiation ... is really black-body radiation, it will be difficult to doubt that the universe has evolved from a hotter, denser early stage.
As of 2006, the majority of astronomers consider the big bang theory to be the best description of the origin of the universe. In most astrophysical publications, the big bang is implicitly accepted and is used as the basis of more complete theories.
To quote wiki re: static universe:
Even after Hubble's observations, Fritz Zwicky proposed that a static universe could still be viable if there was an alternative explanation of redshift due to a mechanism that would cause light to lose energy as it traveled through space, a concept that would come to be known as "tired light". Subsequent cosmological observations have shown such a model to be an unviable alternative, leading most astrophysicists to conclude that the static universe is essentially falsified.
(Emphasis added)
Pointing to falsified and/or refuted theories does nothing to advance your argument.
