The only reason anyone who has actually looked it closely and still believes in evolution is because it is the only thing that can let them believe there is no God, and therefore they can be their own God and keep doing evil because in their mind they will never have to be held accountable for their actions.
Actually, this is false. For one, I don't need to believe in evolution to be an atheist. I would remain an atheist even if the theory of evolution were proven to be totally false.
For another, I consider myself accountable for my actions even though I don't believe that there is a god.
But this is off-topic for this thread. Some time ago, I started a thread so that theists can explain
what they think motivates atheists to believe what they do, and why they think they understand atheists. That would be a better place for this discussion, don't you think? I'm looking forward to your input in that thread.
