Appearance of age vs. appearance of history
In Genesis God made Adam and Eve at a full grown mature age. Not children first, then adults, simply adults. When Jesus turned water into wine, He didn't turn the water into grapejuice first, and then wine, but Wine which is aged grapejuice. The point is that God also made the Earth at a mature age. This is why you can look at it all day long with a carbon dating and say it is millions of years old. Likewise you could so the same with Adam and say He was 20 or 30 years old. But God created both on the spot as a mature age.
There's a big difference between creating things with and appearance of age and creating things with an appearance of history. The former can certainly be justified in some cases; the latter is an effort to deceive.
