I've not heard that saying before, but it made me chuckle - I will use it without your permission!!
In exchange you can have one of my favourite phrases:
"As wet as an otter's pocket."
i.e. I pulled my cat from the pond and he was as wet as an otter's pocket.
NB: Can be used in a sexual context too, but that would make you a bad person and otters would shun you.

Re: Ageist hat on
Dont woory i got lots more though they do not translate well.
Hammered as a nail - the meaning gets lost in english it would imply realy drunk in slovenian dumb as shit.
You are looking like a calf at a new door- someone is amazed at something and cant get it trough his scull how or why something happened.
A Bear's Favor
comes from an old story when a Farmer saved a Bear, the bear was very happy and wanted to return the favor and at one time the farmer was nagged by a fly who kept landing on his nose and the bear used his paw to kill the fly the farmer did not survive either
You look like death - when someone is ill
Drunk like the plug - the plug on a barrel of wine that is
Your father clearly made you at night time - implying either ugly or stupid
I did not grow up in a shadow, i didnt swim over here on soup, im not from yesterday - all used for my mama didnt raise no fool
If angels had asses - used when food tastes good
The fool looked behind - when you hammer a nail and it misses or comes out some where it should not
by the wooden stone - Usualy when you had an accident or something simmilar and you do not want to go in to details where it happened
i got more though they are harder to translate and lose more of their meaning like Get me some string - string as in schnops in essence moonshine that has 60-80% alchohol and when it is made it dropes down a string it tastes like gassoline i dont recomend it.

Sayings
We always said "looked like death warmed over". Guess I am not sure what "warmed over" meant.

Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts

I use "like death warmed up" which means the same, i.e. Re-heated.
Not sure why re-heated is bad.
It might relate to: Warmed-over flavor - Wikipedia

I like the 'bears favour' - I don't think there is an english version.
Languages come up with some really weird sayings.
e.g.
"You are teaching your grandmother to suck eggs"
which means
"You are giving advice to an expert"
Completely mental.

The American Family Association says that bear attacks are God's punishment for our sins.
The solution? Kill the bears.
The comments are also amusing, but not as amusing as the fact that someone wrote this in the first place.

Hehe reminds me of something that happened at my house a bear was trying to get to the river to drink and went past my house, my 2 dogs at the time dint like his traspassing so they gave him a chase happy as could be the 2 dogs chased him to the end of my land around the house though at the end there is a 10 meter drop cause i filled my land to level it up, the bear goes wtf im not going down there turns arround, the dogs see that they turn arround, and now the bear is chasing my dogs, he could not catch them so he went arround and had his drink.
A nother saying :" protected as a bear in Kočevje" our bears are protected from hunting only a few get shot every year to keep the species at a constant number though too few get shot and their number has been increasing every year.
The funny part if i say there is a bear going trough the villages trascans do something about it nothing happens, but when a bear takes a strole trough a city all hell brakes loose.
And at one point we gave a few bears to France to reinstate the bear cause they have none no more, they did not last 2 months shot off one at a time by hunters saying things like i mistook it for a boar. If your eyes are that bad you should not be hunting.

Fair enough. Though unless their contributors are chosen by lot from the adult population, I think they must shoulder some of the blame.
