We will have to agree to disagree on those dinosaur depictions. No we don't. Either you're wrong or I'm right. We do not have to "agree to disagree". So what does the evidence say?

Its inconclusive. I believe your evolutionary time frames would cause you to prefer the "reconstruction" theory of those ancient dinosaur depictions. My biblical time frames cause me to prefer the concurrent theory of dinosaurs living concurrently with humans.
I dont know of any current civilizations that have artwork based on extinct skeletal remains.

You are correct. I am somewhat off-topic, because I am explaining only minimal layers formed by the flood. I can exit the thread if you like or if the moderators think it s best? Well, yes. Start a new thread. We want to hear what you have to say, but if you don't want to defend "flood geology" then you're really not talking about "flood geology". "Flood geology" is where young-earth-creationists pretend that they can explain the geological record by invoking Noah's Flood. If you don't believe that, then we are not really discussing flood geology.

I didn't use cheetahs as an example of an ark bottleneck. I believe they are a more recent bottleneck. I havent got the time to wade through an entire thread to look for your guys proof, if you could post summarized evidence for the lack of bottlenecks observed in modern species, that would be helpful.

Regarding chalk, current rates of accumulation are not appropriate for some forms of coccolithopore which can proliferate chalk production during periods of high co2 prevalence , as per the conditions just after the PT boundary. Evidence? What were those conditions, how high was the CO2 level, and how thick can coccolithophore soup get?Not how thick can you imagine it: how thick can they grow without the top centimeter of water getting too opaque for light to get to the second centimeter? How well to coccolithophores make shells when the atmospheric CO2 is at, say, 5000 ppm and the pH of the oceans is six, or the value appropriate for your chosen CO2 level? Evidence, please. Not "well, it coulda!!" Edited by Coragyps, : punctuation"The Christian church, in its attitude toward science, shows the mind of a more or less enlightened man of the Thirteenth Century. It no longer believes that the earth is flat, but it is still convinced that prayer can cure after medicine fails." H L Mencken

I dont know of any current civilizations that have artwork based on extinct skeletal remains. You don't? You don't? All of them. Every single one of them, Every singe current civilization that is a civilization.
Every single hi-tech culture produces pictures of (for example) dinosaurs --- "based on extinct skeletal remains". Americans do it, Europeans do it, the Chinese do it, the Japanese do it, everyone does it. Every culture that has gotten further than the hunter-gatherer stage produces "artwork based on extinct skeletal remains", depicting dinosaurs.

Ok I will bow out of this thread at your request. But will you start a new thread? I'm not trying to dissuade you from posting at all (god forbid) --- I'm trying to tell you that your arguments would be very welcome on another thread where the things that you want to say would be germane. I don't want to put you off posting or arguing, I just want to say that if you want to argue with me we should wrangle with one another on a thread where our dispute is the subject of the thread. Edited by Dr Adequate, : No reason given.

It seems like a bit of a procedure to propose new topics and get administrator approval and all.

mindspawn writes: Hi Percy, I see you are asking questions that I have already answered, if you could re-read some of the posts, I will answer any questions you feel are still outstanding. After carefully rereading all your posts, I find that the relevant ones are all very unclear about which geologic layers are the flood layers. Is it the P-T boundary? Somewhere in the Carboniferous, and if so where? Somewhere in the Permian, and if so where? And wherever you think the flood layers are, what evidence led you to this conclusion? And ultimately we want to understand what principles you're applying to the evidence. An aside: I don't think you're off-topic when you're talking about the flood itself. You just got here and and deserve a chance to lay out your position before getting into the details of flood geology. If Dr Adequate wants to talk about things like genetic bottlenecks or limestone layers then perhaps he could propose the topic. --Percy

It seems like a bit of a procedure to propose new topics and get administrator approval and all. Well, all you have to do is explain your point of view on the "Proposed New Topics" thread. And then the moderators promote your idea for discussion. It's not really much more of a procedure than stating your point of view in any other thread. The moderators on these forums are quite easy-going, but they do like us to have a particular topic. I think they're right.

If Dr Adequate wants to talk about things like genetic bottlenecks or limestone layers then perhaps he could propose the topic. Well, I don't. That is, I do, but not on this thread. I thought I'd made that clear. --- Let me make a prediction. If mindspawn is still posting here two months from now, you will ask him to become a moderator.

I dont know of any current civilizations that have artwork based on extinct skeletal remains. YES YOU DAMN WELL DO. You're living slap in the middle of one of these civilizations you say you don't know of.
