I can't believe those responding to Ken on this thread have put more thought into what they're typing than "Ken, you're an asshat."
You people are far more patient than I am.

Re: to: Dan Carroll
However, I do not think your post offered much to readers.
It's true... I didn't offer anything you hadn't already made clear, Ken.

Okay. I'll play along with this asshatery for a second.
Anyone who believes in God... tell me what God is. What do you believe in?
I'm not asking for what God did, I'm asking for what God is.
When you can identify what we're all supposed to be believing in, then we can wonder who does or doesn't. Until then, telling us we really do believe in it is asinine... I don't even know what this "God" thing I'm being told I believe in is supposed to be. How could I believe in it?
You might as well tell me that deep down, I believe in askljaelkejr.
No, don't go asking what an askljaelkejr is. Just prove you don't believe in it too.

Re: to: MiketheWiz
If crashfrog's "proof" is valid, then crashfrog must recognize that God speaks to Christians via the Holy Spirit.
In other words crashfrog would need to accept:
1. The Holy Spirit guides me.
2. I exist.
3. Therefore the Holy Spirit guides people.
No, he would need to accept:
1. You believe that the Holy Spirit guides you.
2. You exist.
3. Therefore there are people who believe that the Holy Spirit guides them.
Whatever this "Holy Spirit" thing is supposed to be, that is.

Asshats.
Wow. Five pages since I asked, and still neither Ken nor Mike can tell us what this "God" thing is.
But they're still telling us that we believe in it. Whatever it is.
Which, really, is kind of stupid.

Re: Asshats.
All I'm doing is backing what Ken is saying concerning evidence.
And all I'm doing is asking "evidence of what?"
That we don't believe in "God"? You won't even say what "God" is, and we're supposed to provide you with evidence of our opinions on the subject?
So I'd like to engage your question
My entire ass.

Re: Some Folks Got Balls
My intention was to get people to apreciate my own position, by putting them in it.
Nobody has put you in this position, Mike. Name one person on this forum who has told you that your belief is not real, and that deep down you are an atheist.
Come one. Just one.
We've certainly asked you to back up your claim that God exists. But not that you believe he exists. That'd just be stupid.
I'd like to know if you have ever prayed. I'd like to know Dan's answer aswell, if he chooses to take part.
Yeah, when I was younger. Around the same time I was trying to build Dr. Doom's spaceship in my backyard.
There. Answered your direct question. Gonna tell me what "God" is now?

Re: Some Folks Got Balls
Listen, I just don't see why the whining levels are sky high for something which is common place for me to go through each day.
Once again... when has anybody on this forum told you that you don't really believe in God?
Listen, who cares what I say anyway. Who the hell am I?
Someone on a discussion board, receiving responses to his statements.
That is the point of a discussion board, you know... discussion.
Thanks. So infact, it seems there is some proof here, by testimony - that even atheist's pray.
That's a bit of a leap. I was six years old. I was told that something called God existed, and didn't think to question it. In other words, at the time I wasn't an atheist.
I grew out of it.
God is the eternal spirit
Not exactly specific, is it? I've heard the olympic torch described the same way.
So if that's all there is to it, then yes. I believe that the olympic torch exists.
Creator of this and all universes.
I didn't ask for his resume, Mike. I asked for what he is.
I cannot fully describe him.
You might not want to try arguing its case, then.

Re: Some Folks Got Balls
Obviously you know the drill cos u know I believe the bible.
The bible isn't too specific either.
God is spirit, truth, love, beauty - all things good.
So are cocoa pebbles. So I also believe in cocoa pebbles, if that's what you're asking.
So I mean, were they truly atheist?
Did they not believe in God?
If so, then duh.
Can it be described as a denial of God?
No. Denial of God implies God's existence.
In my case, I'm an atheist because I find "God" to be a meaningless, abstract concept with nothing to back it up. Therefore, I give it as much credence for reality as I do Banjo, King of the Seamonkeys.

Re: to: Gilgamesh
Hey, Ken! Are you gonna tell me what "God" is, so we can all see if we believe in whatever it is? Mike's not doing so hot on that count.

Re: Some Folks Got Balls
Yes. Dan Carroll also prayed, he also attributes it to youth in an attempt to rid the truth of the matter; that all people have prayed because they all know in God.
Okay. Let's play along with Mike's line of thinking here for a second.
I prayed when I was six years old. Therefore, I still know, deep down, that God exists.
What Mike forgets is that I also spoke with Dilbert the Magic Talking Bird when I was six years old. By Mike's logic, deep down I also know that Dilbert really does exist.
Thank you for showing me the truth, Mike. Tonight, Dilbert and I will finish work on that rocketship we were always working on. Sadly, I abandoned the design in attempt to deny the truth... that Dilbert the Magic Talking Bird is real, and that I spoke to him because I knew in him.
I'm gonna need a little red wagon, some tinfoil, and two or three horseshoe magnets. I expect to reach Mars by Tuesday.

And sadly, both Ken and Mike are still unable to tell us what this "God" thing is.
Near as I can tell, it involves fire and sugary cereals. Also not unlike my early childhood...

To: know more about Who God is and His nature here is a excellent source: Bible Search and Study Tools - Blue Letter Bible
Woefully unspecific. Again, Ken... I'm looking for what God IS, not what it DID.

Have you prayed recently?
No, Mike. I haven't. Have you spoken with your childhood imaginary friends recently?
Y'know... other than God.
Denial, incoming.
Oh, goody. Mike's telling me what's true about my life again.
