There was a flood. History records it in the Sumerian writings. Science has found evidence of it in two Sumerian cities.

I was at Niagara falls and read about an incident. A man took two kids on a boat on the river. He got close and people on shore started warning them but they ignored it. Soon they capsized and onlookers cried "swim to me, I'll pull you out." They rescued one child. The other two people went over. The second child somehow survived and was rescued, but the man died.

And the purpose of this little anecdote was????

The gods were angry at mankind so they sent a flood to destroy him. The god Ea, warned Utnapishtim and instructed him to build an enormous boat to save himself, his family, and "the seed of all living things." He does so, and the gods brought rain which caused the water to rise for many days. As you admit it is a myth, like the one in your bible. This is not proof of anything actually happening.

Did you lie? Hope no one called you on your "evidence"? So will you admit there is no evidence for a worldwide flood? Because if there was I think you would present it.

I personally always search for science, history, etc that backs up my statements.

It may be true that you search, but that doesnt mean there is evidence to back up your statements; as proven by this exchange. Maybe you should find the evidence before you make the statements.

So you are willing to concede that the bible is filled with myths and legends?

So how do you tell what is a myth and what is "real". As Percy shows you certainly don't believe what the bible says.

If you have to strip out all of the details that make the Genesis account what it is, clearly the Genesis account is not accurate.

I agree. If he wants to strip out everything that disagrees with his belief set, then it becomes inaccurate and what I have said before; Myth.

You can't have it both ways. Either you believe the mumbojumbo or you do not. It is either accurate as written or not. Torturing the bible to get it to say what you want it to say is dishonest, intellectually and theologically.

I'm sure there was a man named Jesus around 2000 years ago who developed a cult following that grew into modern Christianity after his execution by the Romans.

I agree with everything else you say. Here we differ. There is no extra-biblical evidence at all for a historical Jesus Christ.
